Chapter 3

" Uhh. Lucus is too much sometimes. We planned for a dinner date. Now he is cancelling it. " Ashley complains as I close my locker.

" Hey. Hello to you too sister. How was your day? Umm yeah I had a good day too. Thanks for asking. " I scowl at her. Not greeting your sister is a big no. Thank God it was the end of school time. I can't get back home soon enough.

" You are such a drama queen. Hello sis. Now tell me how he can cancel our date. He cancelled the last four now it's the fifth. Enough is enough."

She seems really in distress.

" Hey. You know why he ditched you the first four times."

" Yes. Still doesn't make it better. " She all but pouts.

I laughed. It was because this month there was found to be increased magical activity around our pack border. Our neighbor pack Greenland had also felt it. It was a serious issue. Nothing drastic has happened but wolf and witch are like sworn enemies .

It happened like centuries ago. Before that we used co-habitate with each other but it is said that in the 10th century our werewolf king Lorenzo Bradwell found his mate in an unusual way. We wolf only mate with our own species. But his wolf declared a witch, Hazel Adie. She was of the northern coven. The most powerful coven that used to exist.

They say that she had such bewitching beauty that one look at her and you would fall in love with her. So naturally king Lorenzo pack thought that it was a black magic that has taken over their king. They failed to recognize that a mate can't be faked.

A mate is one's half soul. A wolf can never be bewitched in recognizing it's mate. It didn't matter how strong the magic was. The bond between mates was beyond magic. But here Goddess Moon has a different plan. Even though the witch Hazel didn't have a wolf in her. She recognized Lorenzo as her mate.

How I asked the folk readers. They said it was a part of magic that exists in the world. You never question the will Goddess Moon. This really fascinated me.

So the people around them and the coven witches went beyond the couple's back. The witches didn't want the future heir to be tinted with wolf's blood and the wolf didn't want a witch Luna so they made a pact to stay in their own race never to mix with in each other after they execute the plan of murdering the werewolf king and the witch Hazel.

So the powerful witch used their magic to bound the werewolf king on one full moon day. They bound him to a tree. The wereking couldn't do anything. The wolves used the metal lead to tie the hands and legs of witch Hazel. The lead captivates them from using magic.

The helpless wereking watched his own pack along with the northern coven witches burn his mate alive. Hazel could only plea for help. She shouted at her mate but his mate was helpless.

But a stranger thing happened. The moon shined so bright that each on of them present there shielded their eyes. The wereking was bound free of magic. He then showed what it was to be a wereking. He was bound by magic because he was trusted the witches to be sisters of his mate. He showed them his power by killing each one of them. Then he massacred his own pack. He was so involved in his warlust that he forgot all about his mate. He forgot his existence but when he came to his senses, Everyone present there was dead. His mate's ashes only remained. He couldn't take the pain so he killed himself with the silver dragger that the witches had crafted with magic. He howled to the moon. The sound so dark and depressed that it is said the moon disappeared from the sky.

Since then it was a war between the witches and the wolves. It went for about a hundred years. But finally the werewolf committee and the witch committee came together to form a pact, the pact the former witches and wolves created before the wereking killed them. They were never to be associated.

Since then witches and wolves they don't even prefer to share their air.

So when our pack sensed a magically activity around the border they just wanted to be sure. So they petrol strictly around our pack border these days. And Luke being the alpha heir has to participate in it. It was his duty.

The date night weren't important for him beyond his duty of being an alpha.

" Why did he cancel his date this time? " I carry my bag as we walk the corridor. It was starting to get empty. Everyone eager to leave.

" Ugh. He wanted to practice more. He says he needs to win this game. But you know he always says that. " She wines.

This was Lucus's last time to play basketball. His 18th birthday is coming soon.March 3rd. He will be eighteen. He will have his wolf and he will be an actual alpha. His highschool days are soon to be over too. Lucus was a grade above us. A senior.

I couldn't wait to be a senior. I just turned seventeen two months ago. January 1st. The day they found me was celebrated as a birthday. They found me when they were running as a pack in the New Year's day. I didn't know my exact age. My exact birthday but my parents gave me my identity. I will forever be in debt with them.

Ashley's birthday will come in like 2 months. May, 14th. She will be eighteen then. She will have her wolf then. She will then forever be mated with Lucus.

" What's with your face? It looks like you have eaten something sour. " Ashley frowns.

" It's nothing. Nothing at all. How are we going home since Luke brought us? " He was always our driver. Ashley could drive. I don't really know how to drive. So I was a nuisance in this regards.

" I am going with Anna to her house. She is teaching me all about how to lure your boyfriend. " She wriggles her eyebrows.

" Ew. Don't tell me about it. How am I going home? " I ask her.

" Umm. Honey bunches." I really hate when she calls me that. " Can you please book a cab? " She gives me a puppy eyes.

" Ash. You know how everyone hates when we book a cab and go to the pack house. Lucus won't live us like that. " I frown.

" Yes. He told Ted to take us home. But Ted got some family emergency so he left early. I told him we will get a lift from pack. Anna will take me. I won't suggest you to come because I know you Nessa. So help me out. Pleaseeee." She comes to kiss my cheeks like I am some baby.

" Ughh. Stop. Ok I'll book a cab. "

" Aww you are my favorite sister." She sing songs.

" I am your only sister. " I roll my eyes.

" See you at the pack house. Love you." She goes towards the pink car. Anna waves at me. I wave her back.

Ok. How hard will it be to book a cab and what could go wrong. Well many things apparently.
