Upon waking up the next morning I had notice both Legacy and Pheonix was in bed with me. Which is pretty normal when I work doubles. Mrs. Smith had sent me a text saying that she couldn’t babysit because Mr. Smith had gotten sicker, and she needed to take him to the emergency room. So, I was going to have to call off. Which is normally not an issue as I barely call off. But it gives me anxiety to have to do so. Sheesh a grown woman scared to call work and get in trouble, well that has to do with my past. Guess I better get this over with. I pull up Britney’s number and call her.

“Hey Britney, I am going to have to call off for tonight's shift. My babysitter has to take her husband to the emergency room.” I say once she picks up.

“It is okay, I was actually in the middle of texting you. Dale told me what happened last night so I was going to see if you wanted the night off because of the incident. I hope Mr. Smith is okay.”

“Yeah, me too. And honestly, I am okay, I think Mary was the one who was more shaken up than I was.” I reply.

“Yeah, but I know your past. I don’t need you in a bad head space. Keep me in the loop about Mr. Smith and if you need more days off. There will be three new girls starting tonight anyways.”

“Ohhhhh can’t wait to meet them! And I will. Thank you.” I tell her.

“You know Constance wouldn’t want you in over your head and she knows you’re a hard worker. She has made it known to Mark you nor I will be fired or she’d have his ass.” She giggles, “Take care let me know if you need anything.” she finishes up.

“Thanks girl. And I will.” I answer her and we both hung up.

Well, that is one thing off my to do list today. And I guess since I don’t have work I will take the kids to the park for a little bit. We always do that on my off days or when I have to take off work. They love it, even more so when I have to take time off because I work so much. But I will lay here in bed until they wake up. They can sleep in if they want since we don’t have anywhere to be at a certain time. Laying there in bed I pull up YouTube to begin watching the shorts. I do this before bed or when I am waiting for the kids to get up. I don’t do t****k I have never liked it. I am not really sure why I don’t.

An hour after calling off work the kids begin to wake up. And like normal when I work doubles the kids give me a bunch of hugs and kisses. Telling me how much they missed me and so on. I really enjoy moments like this, it melts my heart so much and brings so much happiness to me. Even if I was to never date or get re-married, I would be okay with that because my kids mean more to me than anything.

“So, Mrs. Smith had to take Mr. Smith to the doctors, and I called off. Do you guys know what that means?” I ask smiling.

“We get to go to the park?” they both ask at the same time with excitement.

“Yes, now let's go get ready!” I say beginning to tickle them both.

They both managed to get up from me tickling them and run to their room. I follow them into their bedroom Pheonix already getting his clothes on and Legacy trying to decide what she wants to wear. Once she figures out what she wants to wear I help her get dressed. Once we are all ready to go the kids line up by the door as I get my backpack and keys together before we leave. Pheonix notices I am ready and opens the door yelling “I will beat you down the stairs Legs!” And off they both go racing each other to the car giggling all the way down. Pheonix winning and he is excited while Legacy is pouting telling him that he cheated because he had a head start. I just laugh at the both of them and unlock the doors so they can get in. Strapping them both I get in the driver seat, “Are we ready?” I ask them and they shake their heads. I begin taking off and heading to the park, Pheonix and Legacy are in the back playing I Spy. The park is about an hour's drive, we come to this one because the kids love it. It has dinosaur spring rides, pirate ship jungle gym, sand box and more. They both could play here until they fall asleep from all the running, they do. Plus, the kids who come to this park are nicer and invite the kids to play with them. The park is call “Enchanted Garden”, besides having an area for the kids to play it also has a gardening section that the kids can learn to garden and tend to plants, a library gazebo it is enclosed and a door, when it is colder they turn a heater on for the kids and it also has a place for them to paint and draw with instructions to teach them how.

So besides it having nice people and an amazing playground my kids also love it because of the other stuff they can do here. And they always seem to go to the library first. Legacy usually picks picture books and Pheonix is always finding something to read to keep his mind sharp, so he tells me. He wants to be an astronaut one day or a paleontologist he hasn’t decided on which yet. And then they will go play for a few hours and right before we leave they usually draw and hang their new drawings up at home.
