The aliens had accomplished something pretty remarkable in creating the Cottage. A pile of transparent domes like soap bubbles piled up on the floor of the seabed, climbing the reef mountain around the hot geothermal vents. Standing with Vibeke and Rylick underneath the hot artificial sun above, surrounded by the whooshing and constantly moving fuzzy fan trees, with one of Cthulhu’s little cousins standing right next to him watching everything with his half-dozen black eyes, Nick realized just how unexpected the situation was. Yesterday he had no idea that this was where he would be only a short time later. How could he? Despite years of living in his small space cabin, running his blog and YouTube channel as Europa Nick, he hadn’t ever actually thought he would get into space.
