This final prompt, "The Devil's Bride," mixed with the specified backstory—the hero is seeking cold, calculated revenge for his mother's death by utterly dismantling the heroine's family—is the most lethal and emotionally charged scenario yet. This shifts the hero from a cold strategist to a vengeful executioner, making the enemies-to-lovers arc almost impossible, which is precisely why it will be the most potent.

We will focus on the heroine's resistance against an irresistible, dangerous force who holds the power of life and death over her brother.

chapter 1
“What? How could he!?” Sofia shot up from her chair as it rolled away, the tension caught in her voice. Trembling, she dragged her hand across her forehead to cover her eyes and exhaled deeply. The weight of the news written all over her face."Oh my God… this … this is unbelievable!” Not knowing what to do, she hung up the call. She paced back and forth in her office, each step defining the gravity of the situation. Stamping her hand on her office desk, “Shoot!” She cursed a little too loud, it echoed across the office. ‘How despicable could he be?’ She thought. Dom had proved to be more dangerous than she could ever imagine. This time he didn't just cross the line, he bulldozed it. First, the destruction of the newly launched project, now he had taken over their sub company in the middle of New York. How much more would he take? The Bellanti's nearly had no ground to stand on. The sweat that dripped from her forehead down to her cheeks, showed how hot Sofia's sit got. She forcely punched in a few buttons and someone answered on the other end. “I want you to look into it now! No delays!” She said as she raised her voice, loud enough the staff could hear her. Should I confront him? Should I react the same way? Get him arrested? File a complaint? The questions won't stop. They raced through her mind, loud and overwhelming. So much to make her even more stressed. Sofia couldn't be less calm. Dom was supposed to be a business partner. At least. But no, his actions showed he wanted more than just partnership. She remembered their meeting for the first time, ‘he posed as gentle and business smart’ Sofia would often say. They were supposed to build something solid, that was the whole reason for the partnership…or so, she believed. Without wasting more time, she roughly packed her things into her bag and stormed out of the office. The urgency in her steps could have fooled anyone into thinking it was an emergency. … “What!?” Maria exclaimed, her jaw dropped open and her brow furrowed. Sofia took a sip of the coffee in front of her, crossing her legs like she couldn't care less, she shrugged and scoffed.”I can't really process what's going on.” Maria sat close to Sofia, close enough like she was about to whisper, she then clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes. The pity she had for Sofia were evident in her expression and words. “I mean, who would have thought he'd turn out to be this dangerous…” “...Evil!” Sofia interrupted “Yeah, evil is the right word.” Maria agreed, nodding her head. “I'm gonna confront him.” Sofia nodded slowly like she was agreeing to a proposal. “Yeah, serve him right. So what are you going to do now?” the anxiety caught in Maria's voice. “I'll have a meeting with the board of directors tomorrow and see how we can tackle this. And I'm also going to meet him tomorrow, like who's he to f**k with me?” Sofia said as she hissed under her breath, glancing at a place for a moment. Right. Sofia always had an eye for Dom, business wise. She used Dom as an example to her employees. But this time, the table's turned. Dom had gone to great lengths to put Sofia in a tight spot. She couldn't care anymore whatever she said to spike him to act the way he did. She'll make her way into his office, grab him by the collar… just like they do in the movies. Maria broke the silence. “Yes girl, that reminds me. I just wanna break it to you that I'll be getting married soon. Would you do the honour of being my bridesmaid?” Maria said with a little excitement, staring at Sofia to see her reaction. Sofia's jaw dropped down, her eyes wider than that of a frog. She dropped her cup on the table next to her, sharply stood and hugged Maria “OMG! After five years of … what will I call it?” Maria notices Sofia's looking at her. “Uhm… engagement.” Sofia’s expression said otherwise, she tilted her head a bit backwards. Her eyes not agreeing to what Maria said as she squeezed her brows, like she was a bit confused. Shaking her head in disagreement. “I’d rather call it a situationship. Girl, he took serious advantage of you. What changed?, why’s he suddenly taking things so seriously?” “Hmmm, well he just had to, you know…” Maria gives Sofia a side eye and smirked. “Don't tell me!” Sofia’s eye widened. “You always know how to pull it, do you?” she squealed, jumping up to hug her. “Of course, that's Maria!” she grinned, raising her coffee cup in a cheer. Maria always had her way with men, especially when money was involved, she probably bribed him. And with Frank, who always had an eye for Maria’s money than Maria. But Maria claimed to love him and always put her money in front, before herself. Meanwhile, Marco, Sofia's 26-year-old younger brother, couldn't care less about the family's business. He came back home drunk that night. He was either spending his nights at clubs, squandering all Daddy's money or not taking the business seriously. Although, when in his sane mind, he remembers that he has a share in his father's business. After Sofia's mother died in an alleged accident, his drinking habits spiraled. He tumbled against the chair. “Ah!” He exclaimed. The house was well furnished with white paints and wooden accents from Victoria’s, the couches were diamond class from Glamour Furniture, the well known best selling furniture in New York. High ceilings with a massive dangling chandelier right in the middle, brightening the entire house, and a double staircase to the first floor. Sofia heard the noise and came rushing down the stairs. “What's that noise?” she muttered. Then she noticed Marco. For a moment she paused, telling herself it's not something important and was about to go upstairs when she changed her mind. She paced straight to Marco and slapped him. “Ouch!” He said holding tight his cheek, almost regaining consciousness. “What was that for?” “Why do you go about drinking all the time, Marco? What in the world is wrong with you?” she furrowed her brow, the weight of her anger obvious in her voice, sharp and loud. Waiting for her brother to respond but got none. She ran her hands through her hair, tilting it backwards, closing her eyes in frustration. She looked straight into Marco’s eyes. “We'll be having a meeting tomorrow with the board of directors, and… no excuses!” She pointed her index finger, holding it firmly towards Marco. “ You must be present!” She said and stormed out of the living room. “On time!” She said again, not looking back this time. Her voice faded away. If there was anything Marco could make out from her words that night, was the meeting with the board of directors. He knew how well his sister is capable, and what she can do if he doesn't attend the meeting. Suspension obviously. Sofia slammed the door of her room so hard, the hinge shook. “Urgh!” she groaned, she gripped her waist and her hair so tight, she fell flat on the bed, facing the ceilings. “Boom!” Sofia jerked out of fear. She stood up startled. “Kane?” Kane stood close to the door, legs and arms crossed, he gave a suspicious smile. Sofia sighed, “You shouldn't sneak in on someone like that.” she said as she held her chest as if she was protecting it from leaping out of her body. “Is that the best welcome I can receive? No ‘hi’ no ‘i miss you’?” He went arms open to meet her. She received him and slapped his chest a little. “ I swear one of these days you'll be the reason I end up in the ER” He gripped her by the waist, pulling her close enough to kiss her forehead. “Did you miss me?” She pulled away, reluctantly. Her face down like the world was against her. She exhaled deeply and sank back into her bed, she felt the relaxation in her whole body, lazy enough not to stand up. “There's been a lot going on, Kane” burying her head into her thighs. Kane stepped forward a little, his face very worrisome. He stretched his hand to cover Sofia's shoulder and sat next to her. He pulled a bunch of hair that fell to her face to the back of her ear. “Tell me what's wrong, princess. Is it the assets?” She looked straight into his eyes, her heart still pounding from the shock. Her innocent eyes meeting his, she saw the ignorance in kane’s face. Of course he didn't know what was going on. Poor boy. She thought. Her mouth folding like a baby about to cry. She chuckled, shrugging his question off. “Not the assets. Way bigger, hectic problem.” she said as she widened her hands to describe how big her problem affected her. Kane came closer to Sofia's face, and whispered “Well princess, I have good news for you. You're safe here.” He gently pulled away, giving her a deep gaze. The heat from his body giving her goosebumps, she felt his breath brush the hairs on her skin. Relaxing enough, she slowly closed her eyes and opened it. For a second, Sofia felt all her problems disappear. But she had to remember that she was glaring at reality, not Kane’s eyes. She lowered her gaze and gave a faint smile, “I'm always safe when I'm with you, I know. But… I don't know for how long I'm going to be safe, Kane.” Bending slowly, she rested her head on his lap, using her hand to support her head as a pillow. “I just want everything to disappear for a while” He leaned forward and kissed her forehead. “ I hope this changes your mood. I…actually came here to tell you something.” She looked up slowly, eyes narrowing. “ Huh?”
