Oli looked up startled. Does he live in caynon or work there? she wondered."I'll call you when home. rough day... yeah.later" he stopped his phone. "sorry about that, work" "I understand.so, what do you do? she asked curiously. "I'm a mechanic" she nearly choked on her drink. "what"? " you sound surprised." "I am" and disappointed too. he smiled. " so where is your shop? caynon?" Oli asked. she shook her head. the insult didn't bother him. she should have guessed, what a waste, how can someone who looks this good be a mechanic?. she felt so disgusted. she pushed more hair out of her face anxiously, looking for an opportunity to leave. the waiter brought their bill, Jason opened his wallet and counted the money and slipped it into the case. he looked up at her. "why do you always do that"? he asked. "what"? "throw your hair back. you were doing the same thing in your office the other day and in the store." "it's just get in my way" "I figured, it's the reason I got you this" he pushed a small case across the table towards her. she lifted it, looking at it the way a rat sniffs meat before eating." it's just a hair clip", he said. then he stood up, taking the box from her and opened it. it was a silver clip, shaped like a butterfly: it has stone lined the edges of it's wings and shone brightly under the dim lightening of the restaurant. taking the clip out of the box he pulled her hair back and secured the clasp. he stepped back and study the effect, but Oli was too shocked to Mumble a simple"thank you" "well, if you don't mind, I'll like to turn in early she said instead". "I've got even more work to do tomorrow" "so soon"? he sounded disappointed. she couldn't wait to get out of there. she didn't know what she was expecting that made her so disappointed but she sure didn't expect that her fantasy will turn out to be a mere mechanic from caynon. before he could help her up, she pushed her chair back and stood up. she walked fast but he managed to keep up with her. she made her way to her car where she steadied herself. no harm done, she would just thank him for dinner and gradually end further contact. "thank you, Jason" "my pleasure". he didn't move and neither did she. it felt like she was tied to the spot. he lifted his hand and brushed his fingers in the left side of her face and then tilted his head down and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. no pushing, not responding she just stood there confused. how could I have fallen for this trickery?. she thought to herself. "good night" he wispered.she opened her eyes. "night" she breaths. "I hope I can see you again" she pretends not to hear him and quickly got into her car. he stood next to her car and watched her drive away. as she drove back to the office to collect her phone, she couldn't help checking her rearview mirror to see if he was on her trail. what in heavens name? a mechanic? did she actually look that badly in need? oh no... even for her drama queen status, this was wow. there is something about loneliness that makes one vulnerable to the most inappropriate interest. be began thinking of a perfect picture and write up that would best discribe her mood right now on her status. then she realized her legs were quivering, it was just a good night kiss, yet it had knocked her brains out. it was better to escape his questions and avoid feeling the kiss. she tried to steady her legs to keep them from trembling. back at home she stared at herself in the mirror challenging herself. she wasn't a beauty pageant material but she usually got compliments on her beautiful eyes. while staring at herself in the mirror her mind wondered again to Jason, imagining him working in his shop and then suddenly he callaps. how messy it would be if he slumped under a car he was working on and the call fell on him. how would his appentices and customers react? she shook her head to get rid of the image. no Jason should have tried harder for himself. these days what excuse could one possibly get for not having a good education and getting a good job? expecially one who is as good looking as Jason? he spoke well and never get mixed up with his tenses. and that kiss.. she touched her lips and it tingled. if he had pulled her into and embrace, she didn't know if the would have been able to resist. she pulled out her her from the band holding up her hair and began to run a brush through it. her brush connected with the clip Jason had given her in the restaurant. she tore it off and flung it across the room. thinking about him is equal to allowing herself to become a prey to reddicculous thoughts. she had friends, colleagues and accquintanctances. she wasn't ready to explain to them this new thing with a mechanic. she was out of Jason's league. she took off the dress she was wearing and made a mental note never to wear that dress again. she wrapped a towel around herself but instead of taking a bath she took her phone abd started texting her friend Stephanie. miss Oli: Gist!!! she typed. Steph: I'm all ears/ eyes. I wanna hear everything. her friends message came back intstantly miss Oli: bad news, won't be seeing him anymore. *sad face* it's what he does. his job Steph:what about it? Oli: hes a mechanic. she sighed as she pressed send Steph: what? how did he allowed himself to become that? Oli: *I don't know* Steph: what a waste, what a complete misuse of body and looks and build..and I can't believe it. what does he repair?? Oli: what does it matter? his shop is in caynon, CAYNON. she thought the cap would give Steph how irritated she was Steph: that bad? Oli: you can imagine Steph: besides his job, is there anything you like about him at least? then she pinged her twice. Oli: I've hit a road block there babe, I can't do it. yes, he's smart, funny even, but.... Steph" any chance he may return to school? get a degree? do something better with his life? did you end it with him? Oli: my looks and attitudes spoke volumes. Steph: any kiss?? Oli: one! it was really nothing. looked away from the phone, she was ashamed of the lie. Steph: *smile* when she was in bed after her bath, she began to truely wonder what her reaction would be if the kiss had gone longer than a second. if he had kissed her more deeply, she knew she would have kissed him back until she grew breathless, I respective of his profession.
