Roland’s breath caught. Her face was close. Too close. He could smell the salt of her tears and feel the heat of her pain still radiating between them. His hand, large and calloused, hung just beside her cheek. He was not sure if he was allowed to close that space. Leah took a shaky breath as their lips met.
