Alena POV
I can’t wait for this stupid class to be over. Why the heck we have to learn to juggle in English class I will never understand. I mean I could simply look up the steps and write the essay. Which is exactly what I have already done but still I have to sit though the instructor teaching us like we are in clown college instead of reapplying my makeup for the date I have in less than an hour. I am so excited to see George again. It was pretty weird when he showed up at my job I know I didn’t mention it but is it really that strange. I mean that had been a regular order for the past two weeks. I sighed watching the clock move so slowly. I had picked out the perfect outfit of my black and green plaid school girl skirt and a black over the shoulder t shirt and of course my favorite choker it was just a black studded piece with a small diamond I the middle. It had been a birthday present from an ex but I still loved the piece even if the ex was a complete bastard. I was lost in my own head when I heard the rustle of people leaving. Oh gosh I was so distracted I didn’t hear my professor call the end of class. I picked up my laptop and shoved it into my purse before running out of the room and to my truck. Class ran a bit late so I’ll be lucky if I can make it to the diner ontime.
Alena:
Hey might be a few minutes late class just got out.
I send a quick text and pull out into the gridlocked traffic. I turn up my radio as Dropkick Murphys comes in the air and fills the cab. It was about 5 minutes past the hour when I pulled into the diner parking lot. I jump out of my truck just as another truck pulls quickly into the parking lot. I look up and start to smile as I see George in the passenger seat wearing a green shirt and his hat kicked slightly to the right. I grin as he pulls up next to me his radio blaring some weird sounding rap. I’ll have to ask him what it is. I think as I walk around to the driver side of his truck. “hey looks like I’m not the only one running late.” I grin as he turns off the engine. And hops out of the beautiful '79 power wagon on 33s. How did I not remember such a beautiful truck. “Shes beautiful” I say nodding to the truck.
“seems to me like it was perfect timing.” He grinned and placed a soft kiss against my forehead. “you look amazing today. Did you have the day off or something”
I laugh “nope went to class already. I just don’t have to work today. Have the next couple days off. Well other than classes today and tomorrow.” I slip my arm around his and lead him into the small diner. “hows some coffee sounds? I need a caffeine boost.” I grin at him as we slip into a booth away from everyone.
We talked for what seemed like hours as we drank coffee when the waitress finally kicked us out. He put his hat back on and I noticed once again it was kicked to the right. “hey George I have the house to myself for a while as Doug has some classes how would you like it if we went back there and hung out some? You can follow me there.” I smiled at him praying he would say yes.
“would love to” he replied looking at me. “how far away are we?”
“Just a few miles. It only takes a couple minutes at this time of day.” I grin it was only about 3 in the afternoon so there was not a lot of student traffic about. He jumped into his truck and followed me back to my house. When we got there he pulled in behind me and we entered the house. As soon as we did he pushed me against the wall and kissed me hard and deeply as he shut the door. I was stunned it was so passionate I could barely catch my breath when he pulled away.
I stared at him unable to talk. “Sorry I just, uh, well you see,” he was stuttering, “Alena I am really sorry I just couldn’t help myself.”
I blushed and wrapped my arms around him. “that was amazing.” I said softly as I hid my face against his neck. It took a minute or two before I could compose myself and let go of him. I take a single step back and hit the wall as I stare into his eyes. “what did you do that for?” I ask shyly.
“Your beautiful my sweet Jazmín.” His eyes hungry for more as he closes the distance between us. I find myself stuck between this sexy man and the wall. He took my face in his hand and kissed me softly. “you can always tell me to stop” he says as his other hand moves to my ass and he lifts me off the ground. My legs move around his waist and I wrap my arms around his neck kissing him back. He brings us to the couch and sits down with me with him as we sit down. I bury my head into his neck again and hold him close to me. “You seem comfortable” he says laughter evident in his voice. I can’t help it and grind softly against him.
“Very actually.” I smile at him. “I feel safe in your arms.” I whisper unsure if he can hear me. He takes my bandana off my head and places it down on the coffee table with his hat.
“so what would you like to do” he says as he peppers me with kisses. “im sure you weren’t planning on teasing me when you invited me to your house.” I grin and slide off of his lap and sit down next to him grinning slightly as I notice him adjust himself.
“Well no I’m not really the type of girl who would kiss and play on the first date.” I swallow knowing that is exactly what I want to do with this handsome man sitting with me. “I honestly just didn’t want our time together to end yet.” I admit softly.
He laughs “Don’t worry my sweethearted Jazmín. I would never take advantage of you.” He takes her hand in his. All of a sudden his phone starts ringing. “give me a second.” He reaches in his pocket and grabs his phone quickly typing something and puts it away. “can I ask you something Alena?” he turns towards me looking serious all of a sudden. I nod “its just why do you wear a folded bandana all the time?”
I smile at him. “ive always worn one. But this green one is special because it was given to me by a friend of my very close friend. He was always so nice and sweet to me. Honestly he was the only guy I trusted for years after I got hurt by an ex. Well u til I met you that is.”
“So it’s sentimental?” he looked at me relieved. “So I guess I’m just curious why you were sent away for a year then.”
I looked at him “my parents sent me away last year. I couldn’t even say goodbye to any of my friends. I’m sure it seemed like I just disappeared off the face of the planet.” I look down remembering how hard it was for me to have to leave everyone behind. “I had a friend who swore they were going to set me up with the perfect guy.” I laugh at the memory. “I think his name was Jorge isn’t that quite the coincidence?” I smile looking up at him. He sits there in a shocked silence just staring at me. “George are you alright?” I quietly ask.
He finally snaps out of it a couple seconds later. “So you really are Maria aren’t you?” he speaks so softly she almost didn’t heat him. I haven’t been called maria in a while. Not since Papí last used the name.
I nod slowly. “How do you know that name almost no one uses it.” I stare at the stranger sitting next to me. “I haven’t been called that since I last saw Papí before leaving for school.” I know I should feel nervous or at least my heart should be beating faster but I still felt safe next to him.
“My friend Hector wanted me to meet you but u disappeared according to his Tio. Still I think Jazmín fits you better than Maria.” He grinned. “I can’t believe I finally found you. I was worried when you never showed up.” He grasps my hand and brings it to his lips. “I am so sorry that I couldn’t save you. I promise never to let anything bad happen to you ever again.”
His words were so sincere that I couldn’t stop the tears from falling down my cheeks. “Jorge and Jazmín. The new Romeo and Juliet.” I smile and kiss him softly. “Its getting a bit late can I make you something for dinner?”
“sure you want some help in the kitchen?” he asks standing up with me.
“I was just planning to make Hopping John casserole tonight as it is my turn to cook dinner. Have you ever had it.” I ask as I start to take all the ingredients out. He watches me curiously as I cut my veg and sausage before browning it all up. As I cook George starts to ask me all kinds of questions telling an occasional story about his life as well. This continues though dinner and as we clean up the kitchen putting all the left overs in the fridge. Once done I lead him into my bedroom and we lay down comfortably on my bed and he holds me as Talladega Nights plays on my TV. My mind wanders about just how right my friend had been telling me about my perfect match over a year before. I fall asleep comfortably curled up against George.
