CHAPTER FOUR

A gentle knock echoed from the door. Boss Mike didn’t look up but simply stated, “Come in.” Katherine entered, her expression determined yet cautious. Seated behind a desk was a broad-shouldered man with a less-than-handsome face whose prominent round stomach couldn't be ignored. Katherine gasped softly, dread creeping in, "perfect, I'm doomed!” * "Ms. Kate, please take a seat," he said with a serious expression. Katherine, however, interrupted before he could proceed. I'm truly sorry, sir, for being late. It's unacceptable, especially in my second week here. I don't have any excuse, I messed up. I promise you, sir, this kind of carelessness won’t ever happen again," Katherine admitted, her voice heavy with remorse and regret. "Oh, No," said Boss Mike, his face lightening up with amusement. "That's not why you're here, Ms. Kate; “Really,” Kate responded in shock Yes, I called you here regarding your résumé," Boss Mike said. "You mentioned that your mother works at a bank and that your father is overseas, correct? I'd like you to explain that further.” Katherine realized how irrelevant the question was, and even she felt uneasy about how to respond. “Of all the questions he could ask, why that one? What is he really trying to find out?” she wondered, taken aback. Boss Mike wasn't merely questioning her for business reasons or an interview; he had never laid eyes on anyone as stunning as Katherine before, And so desired to engage her in a conversation; he was fixated on her tender lips, shimmering blue eyes, and flawless skin, hardly paying attention to what she was saying. “Oh… well, that’s pretty much the whole story, my mother started her job at the bank during my college years after unexpectedly losing her secretary position,” she sighed with a hint of sadness and continued her explanation. "My dad, on the other hand, has always been on the move since I was a kid. As far as I know, he's a contractor, who often gets called for various projects frequently. That's pretty much the whole story, boss," Katherine stated assertively. After a moment of awkward silence, boss Mike finally responded to her saying; “Thanks for the information; that’s reassuring. You may go now.” Turning around just moments from opening the door, boss Mike called out to her, this time in a “trying-to-be-charming-voice,” he stated; You’re aware of your beauty, aren’t you, Ms. Kate? You might just be the most stunning woman I’ve ever met,” his eyes brimming with desire. Oh, thanks, boss,” Katherine said, feigning a blush. “I really should head out; Karen won’t be able to manage everything on her own,” she added, her tone comforting. “That's true, go ahead,” leaving his office, Katherine was so irritated and furious. “Seriously, who does he think he is? Doesn't he know I'm in a relationship? And honestly, even if were free, I'd never settle for a man as unattractive as him," Katherine mumbled to herself. * “For real? Where are we going and why?” Kai asked happily, his voice filled with curiosity. “There's a new bar that just opened downtown, Jason said we should meet him there,” Reymond responded. “Alright, but man, why not just go to a five-star hotel like we do all the time?” Kai asked again; this time, his eyes showed confusion. “ I don't know, maybe 'cause we're already staying at mine, and you know, Jason hates the paparazzi more than a cat hates water, unlike you, doofus,” Reymond teased, a smirk on his face. “Fine, I'll help you get dressed then,” Kai muttered. “Are you crazy!” Reymond responded. “What?” Kai asked his voice full of innocent shock. “Help me get dressed? Like I'm some kind of kid, right?” “Well, how else are you gonna get dressed with all those bandages? You'll need a doctor's assistant, and my father, as we all know, is the most pronounced doctor in all of Fransisco, thereby making me practically the most pronounced nurse,” Kai preached with a tone mixed with confidence and tease. Reymond, puzzled as a result of what his friend Kai just said, thought to himself, “How on earth does that even make sense? I think this young man needs a doctor, more pronounced than his Father I guess. “Well, I'll manage,” Reymond spoke, his voice filled with calm aggression, “wait here for me; I'll be done in a minute.” Staring at his friend walking away, Kai thought to himself, he's definitely gay, with an amused smile on his lips. “Alright, don't stay too long, and remember, if you need someone to help you get dressed, you know who to call, okay?” Kai announced in a teasing manner as he laughed his brains out. “Go to hell Kai!” Reymond spoke as he walked into his room. A few moments later, Reymond walked out of his room and called out to Kai, “Yo, get up your feet, and let's go; you're driving.
