Crossing Paths 1
It was chilly winter in Paris. People around were bustling through the streets of Paris. Some were getting a hot cup of coffee while some were taking the stops at the shops. As New Year was approaching, a happy mist of the air spread across this romantic city. The street was in the chaos with smiling faces.
'Do you like the new dress? Should we have dinner outside? Should we have fish or some pasta? It is getting really cold, isn't it? Should we go tomorrow to see Shirley? Lets have a cake at this bakery. It's quite famous around. Which flavor do you want?' Even though Sarah was speaking continuously she never got an answer. She looked a little furious and said, 'Hey I am speaking to you? Can't you listen?' 'I can listen. You are speaking too loudly that even a woman at that corner can listen to you!' A small voice came beyond her ears. She looked at the 6 year boy who was very calm and looked a bit cold! 'Than why don't you say something!' Sarah refuted 'Because you speak non-stop and you are not gonna listen to me anyway!' 'How dare you speak in this manner with your own mother!' 'Mom, don't overreact. I know your all tactics. Lets go home, its getting late.' 'Okay. Let's go home!' Sarah could only look at the boy and sigh. She still could not understand how this little one make her such a big fool every time!
In a small cozy two bedroom apartment which was decorated in white and blue, all the furniture was lined nicely and neat. After a little hustling in the kitchen, Sarah's voice came over 'Leo come out, its time for dinner.' 'Coming Mom.' After a light dinner, Leo tiptoed and said 'Mom, go and take rest. I will clean the kitchen.' 'No sweetie. Go and sleep, Mommy will clean it up.' As adamant as Leo was he suggested, 'Lets clean it together.' Gently smiling Sarah nodded in agreement. After cleaning, they both snuggled into the small bed. 'Good night sweetie.' 'Good night Mom.' Sleep engrossed to the little Leo but Sarah remained wide awake. She was searching through the chest of memories. How things can change at such a sharp turn. She was naive girl, who believed in destiny. Through all these years she has been telling herself that marrying, having kids and living in own house is her destiny. But half way there everything got changed.
She was no longer the naive Sarah Baker. She was a changed woman, who believed in hardships. She never thought that she would work so hard that she will be working as Executive Manager for a big firm, making her own fortune rather than relying on others. She believed that she was going to love her son only. Because her better half was never made by god!
