ARIANA’S POV I sat by the window of my room as I stared at the sprawling garden outside. The morning sun was bright, a few of the staff lingered around the mansion’s grounds, and I could see butterflies of different colours perching on the beautiful flowers outside. I traced circles on the edge of the windowsill as my mind strayed back to last night. I hadn’t seen Zayn since we got back and I hadn’t even gone looking for him to know if he took his medicine—which I knew he wouldn’t. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to. I just…didn’t know how to face him. Everything felt so different now. Ever since Ximena came in with her shocking news, my world had been spinning in an endless sea of questions. Zayn swore he didn’t do it, but the proof Ximena brought showed a completely different picture.
