I threw myself onto my bed and stared at the ceiling thinking about Paris and Chase. I decided I needed to hear what Chase had to say about everything.
“Hey babe.”
“Hi.... How was your day?”
“You know your Dad is a drill sergeant but good.” He said, laughing a little. “How was your day princess?”
“Long…So I need to talk to you about something.”
“ OK, hit me with it.”
“So umm Broc submitted some of my work with his to an art exhibit. And we were accepted and offered a 6-month contract.”
“Oh wow that’s awesome.”
“But it’s in Paris.”
I heard him take a deep breath. “How do you feel about it?”
“I don’t know Chase… I mean it sounds awesome but” My voice fell off.
“But what?”
“I don’t know, I mean I really don’t want to leave you. Do I really need Paris to make me happy?”
“Lillian, I don’t want you to go to Paris, but if that is what you need, I will support you. I mean it’s only 6 months, right?”
“I could end up being a year.” I whispered, not sure I wanted him to hear that part.
“And would you be with Broc the entire time?”
“Yeah, well, sort of. I mean we would be working together and you know he is my friend.”
“I know.”
“Do you think I should go?”
“Babe, I can’t make that decision for you. But I will support you.”
“You are the best boyfriend and mate ever!”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
As soon as I got off the phone with Chase, I felt myself relax and decided a nap was in order before dinner.

Chase’s POV
Hanging up the phone with Lillie left me feeling empty and angry. I wanted to yell into the phone. I didn’t want her to go, but I knew I needed to support her. If going to Paris was what it took, then I would let her go.
But at that moment I decided I was going to go with her. Even if that meant I had to give up being a Beta, I would.
I was not allowing Broc to come and take her away from me.
I am sure she hadn’t talked to her father yet and I was going to talk to him first.
I knocked on Alpha’s office door.
“Come in, Chase.”
“Alpha.” I said, nodding at him.
“What can I do for you? I assume this has to do with my daughter.”
“What I am about to tell you is I would like you to keep it between us.”
“Of course.”
“Lillian was offered a contact with an art exhibit for at least 6 months in Paris. She hasn’t decided if she wants to go, but if she decides to go and you allow it, I want to go with her. Even if that means I have to give up the title of Beta.”
Alpha Jayson leaned back in his chair and looked deep in thought.
“If it’s only 6 months, why do you need to go? Could you not just visit her? I mean you have gone this long.”
“Because Broc will be with her and he has already told me he will make a move on her and I trust her. I don’t trust him and I don’t think my wolf could handle the stress.”
“ OK, I will allow you 6 months. As long as you continue to train while you are gone, I will allow you to keep your title.”
“Thank you Alpha.”
“To be honest, I don’t like Broc and if she wants to go then I would feel much better knowing you were with her.”
“Thank you sir.”
“Now tell me what your plans are for my daughter?”
“I plan to marry her, sir, and mark her. When she is ready.”
“Good because you know she is my princess.”
“Yes sir. I have loved Lillie since the first time I laid eyes on her.”
“Yes I recall. I will be honest, I was rooting for you but I didn’t think she was really your mate. I mean, what are the chances?”
“Nobody believed us Alpha and I feel like there has to be a reason our wolves communicated with us at such a young age.”
“Possibly…Hopefully it’s something good. There has been an increase in rogue attacks and I will be honest with you, son… A lot of us are worried.”
“It’s that bad?”
“They are so strong…stronger than most wolves. I don’t understand.”
“We will win Alpha, I know it.”
“I hope you are right.”
After talking with the Alpha for some time, I made my way back to my room ready for sleep. I couldn’t wait to tell Lillian I was going with her if she decided to go to Paris.
Lillian’s POV
I woke the next morning with clarity. I didn’t need Paris. It was Broc’s dream, not mine.
I got dressed and grabbed a granola bar on my way out the door.
Once I was on campus, I wasted no time finding Broc.
“Hey Broc.”
“Hey buttercup.”
“So I have thought about Paris and I really appreciate you including me, but I don’t think it’s what I want to do.”
“What are your plans?”
“I am going to go home. Chase is waiting for me and I know that is where I want to be.”
“But you’re only 17. You have time to be with him. You might never get this chance again.”
“I know Broc.”
“Let me take you to dinner and we can talk about is some more.”
“I don’t know.”
“Come on, you need to eat, right?”
“Ok fine.”

After class, on my way back home, I decided to call Chase.
“Hey sugar.”
I couldn’t help but giggle. “Hi Chase.”
“How are you?”
“I’m good and I decided about Paris.”
“Oh yeah…what did you decide?”
“I decided I don’t need Paris. All I need is you.”
“Really?”
“Yes really. Why do you seem so surprised?”
“I know you wanted to travel.”
“I thought I did, but really you are the only thing that fills my emptiness.”
“You have no idea how happy that makes me.”
“Broc didn’t take the news well.”
“He will get over it.”
“Chase!”
“It’s true.”
“Well, I am having dinner with him to talk it over.”
“He is going to try and change your mind.”
“ It doesn’t matter, I know what I want.”
“Good.”
“ OK, I love you but I need to get going.”
“I love you too.”
