Chapter 10

1672 Words
“Stay down!” I yelled to the red-haired guy, panting. I almost got hit by a kick and I faced the other three: the couple of girls and the blond. The next thing I knew, it was raining punches and kicks as the three of them ganged up on me. It was the worst physical activity I’ve ever had. They were stronger and more fit than I was. The first b***h fell on the floor, unmoving, after I landed a hit on her jaw. There’s only two left. However, I was on the verge of collapsing. My knees were trembling and my punch and kick grew significantly weaker. As if both of them figured out my situation, they took advantage of it and intensified their attacks. I crossed my arms in front of my face to defend myself, struggling to keep myself upright. After a few moments, I felt the last of my strength leaving me as my knees fell to the ground and my body collapsed. The red-haired guy came over and kicked my stomach repeatedly. That was f*****g painful. “f*****g b***h! You gave us a hard time. I’m gonna kill you!” He panted as he pulled out a silver knife. He grabbed a handful of my hair to show my neck, but a hand stopped him from stabbing me. “That’s enough,” a baritone voice called out. I’m too exhausted to care who it was. He sounds like someone in his late twenties. “All four of you ganging up on one omega wolf. Two of your companions are already out cold. Aren’t you ashamed of yourselves?” “But...” “Enough!” the newcomer said again. “Now, scram! Make sure to train yourselves or else I will f*****g train you. Let’s see if any of you survive.” The two guys hiccupped from the threat and immediately left. “Don’t leave your friends behind, you cowards!” the voice let out a hassled sigh. “They’re gone.” That would have been comical if I hadn’t been in pain. I don’t know when it started raining, but droplets of cold water hit my face, washing away the blood from the wounds. It was pouring and I could barely see anything. Everything hurt and my ears were ringing. “Let me help you,” the voice said again and the next thing I knew, I was being lifted off the ground, bridal style. I wiped the water from my eyes and studied my savior. I recognized him with the eyeglasses that he was wearing. If I’m not mistaken, he’s a delta of this pack. He has pale skin; slanted, monolid eyes; plump lips; and a high-bridged nose. He had thin arms, but he was surprisingly sturdy. I think his name is Albert? Yeah, Albert, the womanizer. He was infamous for fathering four wolf-pups with a she-wolf and yet still had the gall to flirt with other she-wolves in the pack. His womanizing extended to other packs. Even the rogues weren’t safe from him. I don’t think he ever declared or claimed his wife as his mate. “You’re frail and yet you have the guts to challenge four werewolves at once?” Albert scolded me in a low, calm voice. “What were you thinking?” “They’re targeting my four-year-old sister,” I answered, looking away. I’m too tired to care and since he’s pretty calm while scolding me, I won’t raise my voice at him. “Am I supposed to stand there and take the insult?” “I understand. I wouldn't want my sister to be ridiculed as well. However, you’re not strong enough to defend yourself. What do you think would have happened if I hadn’t stepped in? Do you think they will just let you go and let you live?” He was right, but I was too stubborn to agree. “Should I let them do as they please, then?” I asked sarcastically. His stare sharpened at my tone. “What do you think? You’re playing with death knowing full well your parents are dead and there’s a little sibling who needs her older sister?” His sarcastic tone made me shut up. I turned my head away from him. I couldn’t refute his words, so I’ll just remain quiet. He’s f*****g annoying, but he’s right. “Little girl, your father was one of my men. He was a good guy, loyal and brave. He’s one of my best sentinels and no one can replace him. However, s**t happens and there’s no adult that you can rely on now,” he continued. My chest tightened as guilt washed over me. If... If I hadn’t told Dave that his wife was cheating, would things have turned out for the better? Would I still have a father who loves me and welcomes me home? Within those two weeks of living with dad, I felt his love for his daughter. It was the love my father did not give me in my previous life. My father from the previous life was usually absent. He was a police officer and was working in a different district. Because of that, he was rarely at home. And now that I felt what a father’s love is, it hurt even more to be the reason he was dead. But what I really wished for... is to turn back the time... If I could, I wouldn’t… A thumb wiped the tears from my cheeks. Albert was looking at me with pity and it made me more miserable... The regret and loss piled up inside my chest and it burst out of me. I cried out, sobbing loudly in pain. I didn’t mean to... I didn’t shed a tear when I buried him. This was the first time that I truly comprehended that he was gone and that I was all alone. I felt a wave of black emptiness surge within me. I could only blame myself for what happened. After crying out shamelessly, my face burned from shame. He kept silent all throughout the road. When we get to my house, I got off of his arms. He broke the silence, "Think about my offer." I looked into his eyes and I can feel his sincerity towards teaching me. "What's the catch? Why are you doing this aside from my father being one of your men?" She's reading too much into it. Compared to Dave, she's quite the distrustful one. Albert thought, "Do errands for me outside of pack concern. That will do." The creased between her brows loosened up, "You will train me in return, right?" "As long as you do as I say, you will face no harm. Stay low while you sharpen your claws. Don't let the enemy know your strength. Once you know yourself and your enemy, that's when you attack. Only victors stays alive and defeated people stay dead." He says as he walk away and the darkness enveloped his figure. Once he disappeared from my sight, I shut the door. "Jaiyana, are you home?" A tiny and sweet voice asked. I turned my head towards the stairs where the voice was coming from. Hannah is rubbing her right eye while hugging her wolf doll. The feeling of depression dissipated a little just by looking at this little girl. A smile appeared on my lips, she looks so cute with her curl blonde hair, green eyes, pointy nose and cute lips, "I'm home, Hannah." Her mouth slightly opened and gasped, her eyes roamed on my clothes and hair "You're wet!" She run towards the left side of the house. My eyebrow creased in confusion. Where is she going? The question only lingered for a moment and the answer was instantly revealed as she appeared in front of me, hurriedly bringing a towel and clothes larger than her size, her tiny little arms trembling at the weight of my clothes and the towel's. I grinned at how thoughtful she is. I immediately made my way towards her and took the clothes and towel, her flushed face immediately returned to its original color. "Thank you for bringing all these to me, Hannah. You're so thoughtful. Sister is so happy." I cupped her chubby cheeks with my free hand. I couldn't contain my urge to punch her cheek softly. If I pinch it too hard, she will cry and she will hold a grudge against me. We can't let that happen, can we? She beamed at me, "Hannah is so happy to help sister!" Her cuteness pierced me on my heart. As if angels are flying beside her brightening my already sinking future. Aah, this is one of the reasons why it's fun to be with children, only when they throw tantrum would you want to return them to their mother. But her mother is dead... So if she throws a tantrum, I can't return her... The sudden happiness was washed away by the sudden thought of Hannah's mother and their father as well. So... If Hannah throws a tantrum, she's stuck with me... How am I suppose to deal with it? Am I supposed to s***k her ass with a hanger? A belt? No, that would be abuse... It's not like it's easy to explain it to her. Children are unreasonable... How am I supposed to deal with it?! "Sister, why not take a bath first? You'll get cold at this rate." Hannah's voice disturbed my thoughts. "Oh, right. Thank you, Hannah. What a good girl. Wait for me alright? I'll cook your favourite dinner." I smiled at her. I'll think about what will I do once she throws a tantrum. I thought as I enter the bathroom. Hannah watched Jaiyana get inside the bathroom as she touch her butt. She clenched her fist. She have heard of children being hit by their parents and sibling as well. She will be a good girl so she won't be hit, she assured herself.
