Chapter 4

1401 Words
Chinenye wasn't the happiest that morning, infact she wasn't really happy any morning. However this particular morning felt like a growing irritation to her skin. She woke up a bit of a hangover, even though she looked spotless as silver after getting ready. She knew the day wasn't going to be her best one yet and she just had this feeling at the pit of her stomach that something stupid was going to come out of her morning appointment. She had dismissed her driver for the day because she intended to drive herself today to the lawyer's office. Wearing one of her designer dresses that complimented her figure beautifully, she got into the driver's seat and dropped her Pandora purse in the passenger's seat. Driving out of her building she could couldn't even begin to imagine the outrageous things that were held in today's will reading. She couldn't care less about her father's will, in fact she wanted no part of her father's inheritance at all. Yet she still had an act of duty that needed to be done, so skipping a day at the company was mandatory. Her phone rang and she already knew who was about to bug her, "I will come to the reading at my own pace Mr Eneche", she stated simply with authority in her voice, hiding the irritation that came from speaking to the young lawyer. "Your mother is already waiting Mrs Peters", he said and she definitely heard the annoyance in his voice which only ticked her off more. Obviously the lawyer wasn't aware that nobody was to talk to her like that. "Mr Eneche if you can not exercise some patience then you might as well cancel the meeting", she spat out with venom in her mouth, before ending the call abruptly and leaving the man at the other side of the phone in complete disdain, knowing fully well that he had no choice but to be patient with the young Ms Peters. She started her car then drove out of her big compound on her way to appease her dead father by being present at the reading. The thought of pleasing him was almost sickening to her. Knowing that he still got his way even from beyond the grave irritated her the most. The young CEO walked into the lawyer's office not minding any of the receptionists that asked her stupid questions on whether she had an appointment or who she was looking for. Taking long but precise and patient steps towards the office, every receptionist had eyes on her, some with eyes of envy, some with detest thinking she was just a spoiled daddy's girl with no respect. While some few looked at her with admiration, following her with their eyes as their minds said 'what if'. Opening Mr Eneche's door she walked inside making everybody's head turn towards her. Not minding their stares she took her rightful seat at the the head of the table. Emitting dominance, strength, and courage she already shut the mouth of the now in awe lawyer that caward in his chair like a church mouse at her site, forgetting what matter was at hand. "Mr Eneche", she called her voice void of emotion but emitting nothing less than undeniable power as she dropped her purse on the table then crossed her legs, taking a comfortable position on her chair. "Please don't waste my time, unlike my mother here. I actually have things to handle", she said finally addressing her mother for the first time since she walked into the room. Mrs Peters had learnt to ignore her eldest daughter's smart remarks that one would actually tag as insults that she usually threw at her anytime she was in the same room with her. "Sorry ma'am", Mr Eneche said finally snapping into his right senses. He had heard of Chinenye but had never met her in person and it came as more than a shock to him that he was in front of one of the most powerful women in the city. Even though he was technically not her employee he couldn't help but feel below her as she spoke. She wasn't just one of the most youngest and powerful CEO in the country but she was also probably one the most beautiful, she was gorgeous. From her perfectly toned skin that was without a single blemish, to her perfectly shamed lips that were coated with a dark shade of red. Her artificial lashes only made her eyes even more alluring, but no one could risk ever looking into it. Chinenye Faith Peter was the epitome of beauty. Eneche couldn't deny that she was the highest on the food chain in the room. She could never be compared to one his little sluts that he took around the city and lied to for fun. She looked like she could sense a lie even from miles away. "As stated by your now late father, may his soul rest in peace", the lawyer continued as he bowed his head in respect and later shuffled through his files looking for the one that was needed at moment. The young lady observed his movements that only interpreted in her head as ridiculous, paying respect to the late Mr Peters? He deserved no ounce of respect, whether dead or alive. "I am to disclose the will first of all to Mrs Peters, his wife and his eldest daughter Chinenye Faith Peters, as it is stated by him here in the will", he said taking a pause to look over at the paper that he held. As both of the women had eyes on only him. "As stated in the will, all of his properties in his hometown, both the properties he owns and business centres along the boarders of Orlu local Government are to be given to his first and only Son Gideon Peters, only when he is finished with his university education, as stated here, until he is prepared to handle the properties and assets, his mother Mrs Peters is to take ownership till then", he said and the older woman in the room nodded in agreement. "Between his two daughters, they are to share only 60% of his total life savings between themselves, nothing more and nothing less. 20% should be given to Gideon Peters while the other 20 should be assigned to his wife", he said finally flipping the document as the two pairs of eyes still remained on him. "His legacy and company Venty's trading and enterprise is to be assigned with immediate effect to his eldest daughter Chinenye Peters", he said looking over to the eldest daughter expecting a reaction out of her but her face remained void of emotion even after he had just mentioned that multi billion naira company was to be assigned to her in immediate effect. She could care less about his filthy company and barely saw it as an asset. "Now for the conditions of the entire will that is to be done as advised if not already done", the Lawyer said clearing his throat for obvious dramatics. "All the conditions of the will, can only happen under only one condition. The eldest daughter of the late Mr Peters must be married, with a marriage that must have sustained for up to six months. This condition is being watched over by a third party, which is Emeka Peters, the brother to Mr Peters and his signature is needed for any actions in the will to be carried out". Chinenye rolled her eyes at the amusing yet believable condition of her father. She could care less for the show her father was putting on from beyond the grave, it did not in anyway shake or took her attention. It was very much like her late father, infact she could never expect anything less from the cursed dead man. "Is that all?", she asked already reaching for her bag already, arching her eyebrow at the young man. "Yes ma'am, that's all for the reading, I can email the rest to you and every other member of the family", he nodded and Chinenye was already on her feet. "Do that", she said before leaving the room, not at all bothered about the will in any way, although she knew the problem would definitely become a thorn on her flesh at the next family meeting.
