The Demon Next Door

“Clare! Time to get up for school sweetie!” OK let me start off by saying this now. I start school at 7. It's 5 o’clock in the morning. “OK mom.” I say. As i'm getting ready for school I look outside my window. Outside I see a couple just looking out in the street. They must be my new neighbors. Next door to us is an old house that looks about 50 years old. No one has lived there since my best friend moved away when I was 6. That was 10 years ago.I thought he would stay forever but i guess you can’t get too close to someone without it all falling apart. As I watch them I see a boy around my age walk outside to talk to them. “Must be their son” I think to myself. Before I go more into detail about the present let me tell you more things about me. Normally I'm the quiet type who never does anything adventurous. My idea of a fun Friday night is staying inside eating ice cream while watching Golden Girls. But just know if you get on my nerves I will tell you. Now that you are mostly caught up let's get back to me right now. “Clare are you walking or am I driving you?” says my mom. “I’ll walk today”. As I leave my house I could hear someone call out to me. “Hey kitten! Are you walking with someone today?” There he was in all his glory leaning on his bike. Not a puny little bike but a BMW F650GS. He was staring me up and down as if I was a piece of meat and he wanted to devour me. He was wearing all black and had a bad boy vibe to him. Once I realized I was staring I started blushing and he laughed. “Now kitten didn't your parents teach you it was bad to stare at people. Now are you gonna answer my question?” he said. “Yea I'm walking by myself” I say looking at the ground. “Hop on the back of my bike and let me give you a ride” he says. I hesitate before I shake my head no. “Common kitten don't be like that. You and I both know you need a ride to school before you’re late. And don't tell me that a lame excuse like ‘we don't go to the same school’ cause we are neighbors so we live in the same district.” He had a point there. “First off don’t call me kitten. Its Clare. And I’m only doing this so I don’t have to hear anything from my mom on why I was late.” I say hopping on the back of his bike. I instinctively wrap my arms around him, I felt his muscles realizing what I did my cheeks started burning up. But I went with it. I could already tell this was mistake number one.
