Her Awakening Pt 7 (Traveling)

866 Words
Oriana embraced her mother and sister at the door. She thought she should feel sadder than she did. She felt almost guilty for the amount of relief that was flooding her system. Yes, she would miss her mother and sister, but if she was to be honest with herself, this never had felt like home. She had always had a sense of feeling like an outsider. This was her chance to find out who she was and where she belonged in this world. A glance at the male descending the stairs, with bags in either hand, sent a shiver down her spine. This male was a piece in her puzzle, and being near him was going to be the only way to solve it. “Come, Oriana.” Philip placed a hand on her lower back. “It’s time to go home.” He led her out and down the stairs, careful to keep her from turning back to the manor. Melody’s eyes had flared dangerously when he mentioned going home, and he didn’t want to push her any farther. (Traveling) The sun rose, lighting the landscape from east to west. She glanced down from her window seat of the plush private jet. A blanket of frosty snow covered the land below. Huge pine trees dotted the foothills below towering mountains. She could see rivers and lakes, huge flat plains, and in the distance sunbeams reflected off buildings that appeared to be made of ice. She was in awe at the beauty of the land and could feel it calling to her, even so far up in the air. “Welcome home, Princess.” Philip had sat down next to her. “Beautiful isn’t it” “It’s like a dream.” She whispered. “All of this is yours. These are the lands of the Winter Moon Clan, your lands by birth, and by right of blood.” She turned to look at him, disbelieving the words he had just said. How was this to be hers? She couldn’t comprehend the enormity of it. And, yet, underneath the awe and wonder there was something else. There was the start of anger seeping into her, anger at being lied to and hidden away from something that was such an important part of who she was. The more she thought of it, the more it ate away at her. How could they? How could she? Her rage rose quickly. She could feel her wolf wanting to free herself. She begged to be released so she could take out her revenge on whoever crossed her path first. Her breath quickened into a pant, and her vision darkened. A large hand laid itself on her shoulder, and her wolf calmed almost instantly. A warm calm settled over her, and she whimpered despite herself. “That’s a good girl.” A deep voice rumbled in her ear, sending a delightful shiver to travel from her head to her toes. She wanted to lean into that voice and the warmth that was radiating towards her, but it was gone before she could settle. Philip and Reese shared a look above her, and Reese returned to his seat. Philip covered her with a soft blanket, “Calm my wolfling. All will be rectified.” He ran a hand down her cheek. “Rest now, we land in a few hours.” Philip stood and motioned for Reese to follow. At the back of the cabin was a small office, Philip sank into the large leather chair behind his desk, while Reese took up his usual slouch in one of the chairs facing the desk. Philip sat with his head in his hands, his long fingers running back through his hair. “How long?” He asked Reese. “I don’t…” A fist pounded the desk. “Don’t play dumb with me!” He growled. “The mate bond. How long have you known that she is your mate?” “Boss. I don’t know what you’re talking about.” On the outside, he was trying to be cool. Inside, he was a mess. He had wanted to keep this to himself a while longer. In a blur, Philip flew over the desk, and Reese found himself facing the sloped ceiling of the cabin. Razor claws at his throat, “ Do not play this game with me, Reese, you will lose.” Philip hissed out. “So, if you don’t want your throat ripped out and your body dumped in the wasteland below, you will tell me what I want to know.” Reese trembled beneath the power of his Alpha, and his wolf was cursing him for a fool. ‘Just tell him.” His wolf whimpered. Magnus knew what would happen, and his fight or flight was about to kick in whether Reese wanted to shift or not. “Last night.” Reese whispered. “When I found her outside Melody’s office, her scent hit me, and I knew. We both knew.” Referring to his wolf. “Magnus, knew before I did or before I was willing to accept it.” Philip let go of Reese’s neck and stood.
