Connor 4.

School flew by, surprisingly, after I had read that message. I'm not sure why, it was a simple message, nothing special...and yet, I felt....different. I climbed onto my bus and plopped down in an empty seat, and rested the side of my head against the window as I pulled my phone out of my pocket.  I immediately pulled up the app, and went right to the message. 'Oh, nothing much. Just getting out of school. You?' I didn't expect anything back from him anytime soon. I mean, I wasn't looking for a hook up, truth be told, but I just wanted to chat with someone. I flipped back over to his profile to snoop more on his pictures, and found out that he was 19 years old. So, he probably has a job.  I was kind of jealous, I wasn't able to get a job in my area. I had applied to literally every single place I could think of, but no one seemed to want to hire me. I mean, I was 17 and I wondered if it was because I was so young that no one was willing to give me a chance.  The bus slowed down and I looked up from my phone to see that we were at my stop. I quickly got up and left the bus, and sighed as I walked toward the crappy 'house' I lived in with my my mom, her boyfriend, and my younger sisters: Anorea and Hollow. Truthfully, this house was tiny and so rundown. It looked like a legit crack house. I hated it.  I opened the front door and walked in, dropped my bag on the couch I slept on and went into the kitchen to grab a soda. There was one left.  What the Hell? These were bought yesterday! I thought to myself as I opened the can. The door opened again and in walked my mother's boyfriend. His name was Derek. He was a scrawny 20 something year old dude, with like no teeth and always reeked of cigarettes.  My stomach churned as I chugged my soda and tossed the can in the recycling bin. He opened the fridge and slammed it shut. 'Where are all the sodas?' 'I'm pretty sure you drank most of them between yesterday and today.' I mumbled, as I walked past him into my 'room'.  'Excuse me? What'd you say? I drank most of them? Ha! You probably did.' There was no point in really arguing with him. He felt he was an alpha male of the human race, and my i***t mother apparently saw him in the same way. I rolled my eyes and opened my backpack, taking out my homework for the day. 'You're so damn lucky I let you live here. Otherwise, I'd have you on the streets.' He sneered, before he went into the room he shared with my mom, and slammed the door. Within a few minutes, I could hear my moms iPad playing some show on Netflix.  Typical Derek, comes home from 'work' (if he's even actually working), goes into his room and watches shows and movies on Netflix, until he goes to pick up my mom or my sister, Hollow, from daycare.  I finished my assignments quietly, while I planned out how to escape this Hell hole I called 'home'.
