Chapter 20
Over dinner, Brody tells Gavin about himself—leaving home at an early age, dropping out of high school, falling for a guy too old to be fooling around with a kid his age. He talks about getting his ears pierced, and then getting the one done again and again. He talks about his tattoos, but he doesn’t show them off just yet. He talks about leaving Shag behind for the next boyfriend, and the one after that, and the one after that. With a grin, he sums up his love life as, “Thief, cheat, liar, cheat, backstabber, abusive asshole, cheat. And those are just the ones I slept with. If we didn’t f**k, I don’t count them.”
Gavin laughs. “My list’s not as long as yours, but just as bad. The Jerk cheated on me with one of my own students—“
“You’re shitting me!” Brody cries. “Serious?”
