I tried breathing deeply to calm my nerves, but my nerves were shot. There was no calming them. There would only be pretending to be calm around everyone else. I pushed open the door to the waiting room, plastering a smile on my face when I saw Maya sitting there, staring at her phone. She looked up when I opened the door, smiling at me. “Everything good?”
I nodded. “Great. Just running some additional tests that I gotta come back and talk about later.”
“Tests for what?”
“Just stuff to ensure that if I mate with Silas, I’m in good enough health and there are no risks. That’s all.”
“Oh, human biology. Got it. That makes sense. Well, let’s get going. The boys are waiting for us.”
I smiled. “Great. Let’s go.”
