Eva called Julian on the same frequency she’d used not long ago to negotiate for her kidnapped mother—channel 14.314, the frequency with the unlucky fours in it.
Axel used his call sign to speak over the radio. “This is delta kilo one papa tango. Listening.”
They were met with silence. They heard nothing in return. Until the third try. And then Julian’s grating voice came over the radio.
