Kate had rushed to the hospital in her car when she got the message from Karl's phone. She was so worried that she at first, rushed to Gabriella's room to tell her the news but when she got to the door, she froze and had a thought.
'What if this is my chance? I don't need to tell Gabriella about what happened to Karl. She doesn't care about him anyway'
She left the house after that. After reaching the hospital, she had introduced herself as Karl's guardian. She at first, wanted to lie about being his wife, but reconsidered, remembering the fact that Karl was popular. So was the news about his wife.
"The patient is in room 512. Please, remember to sign a few papers before leaving"
