The Reincarnation!
Gabriella POV
It was yet another day, meeting another client. I stood outside the VIP lounge, keeping watch, wearing my black leather pants and jacket. I couldn't hear what they were discussing inside, but I could tell it was serious.
Who would have thought the famous Karl Vaughan would require an assassin help? Who does he want to kill so badly? Well, it's none of my business. The door opened and he stepped out with my boss.
He really is more handsome than I've seen on the TV. Whenever I watch his interview or anything he does on TV, I always pray that I get close to him. But who am I to get close to him? An assassin.
"You must be Gabi" he said to me.
His voice is so masculine and hot. My brain was going hyper. I can't believe he spoke to me, yet, I kept a poker face on as I nodded.
"Yes sir"
"I hope you'll do a good job" he tapped my shoulder and walked away.
Fuck! He just touched me. I want to melt. I watched him walk away with his security behind him.
Hold on, why did he say I'll do a good job? I turned back to the boss who was wearing a fake smile. I've been with him for years to know his real smile from his fake smile.
"What's going on, boss?" I asked him.
"Come in" he said to me. We entered the VIP lounge and I saw a picture on the table. Woah! She's beautiful.
"Mr Vaughan wants to kill this woman" Boss said to me. I got closer to the table and picked up the picture. What on earth did this beautiful woman did to him that he wants her dead.
There are rumours about Karl Vaughan, even if he's a great public figure, he has a dark side to him, including from his birth. But still, his good works that make him look like the best public figure makes people not to think of him as a bad person.
"Who is she?"
"Gabriella Vaughan" he replied. My eyes widened in shock. Vaughan? So far, Karl is the only child of his parents, that means... That's his wife. She also has the same name as me.
"Why does he wants to kill his own wife?" I queried. The boss glared at me with anger in his eye.
"Gabi, since when do you start asking questions about a client's life? There's no time, I'm handing over the job to you and it must be done tonight"
Tonight... Karl Vaughan must want his wife dead immediately. For what reason? Why does he want this beautiful woman out of the picture?
"I'll send you information about the Vaughan mansion and the task, make sure you get it done immediately and report back to me" he said.
"I understand, boss" I nodded.
.
.
That was my task. Even if I had so many questions, I won't get an answer no matter what. I had two hours before I get rid of Gabriella Vaughan. I got on my bike and drove off to the estate to eliminate the target. It's a single woman. Killing her is not the issue but, to easily get past the security with ease. That's going to be the problem.
After an hour, I stopped in front of the estate. I stared at the information on my phone. Gabriella Vaughan is twenty five years old... What does that have to do with the mission? Well, she's a year younger than I am. She's in the second floor, second room by the left hand side. The windows on the second floor will be left open till 8pm, so I must get into her room before 8pm.
According to the information, she's sick. She has been sick for months that she's not able to leave her room. Well, that makes everything even easier.
After checking the blueprint of the house, I got off the bike and sneaked in. There were so many securities and the estate was almost too bright. I have twenty minutes left.
I crouched in the shadows, eyes fixed on the mansion's facade. The cool night air carries the scent of blooming gardens and damp earth. The Vaughan mansion was bigger than expected. The garden was even beautiful at night. I snapped out of my thoughts and focused on the task.
I scanned the perimeter, noting the securities' patrol routes. Their predictable patterns are my advantage. They keep walking around like robots, chatting. While some were busy smoking. Of course, they would never see me coming.
With a deep breath, I slip on my gloves and begin my ascent. The rough stone walls offer ample handholds, but I don't rely solely on brute strength. Fingertip holds, precision placement, and flexibility guide me upward.
My boots' rubber soles grip the wall as I find the first ledge, a narrow ledge above the first-floor windows. I balance on the balls of my feet, weight centered. The ledge creaks, but I freeze, becoming one with the darkness.
A guard passes beneath, oblivious to my presence. A sigh of relief escaped my lips. I wasn't caught.
Finally, I grasp the windowsill, swinging my legs onto the sill. The wood creaks softly as I enter the mansion..
Inside, I pause, listening. The hallway's dimly lit. Footsteps echo from the floor below – the guards' steady patrol and the maids roaming about, doing their night chores.
My eyes adjust, and I survey my surroundings. Portraits adorn the walls, their subjects' eyes seeming to watch me.
My target's room lies down the hall and I have just fifteen minutes before the maids go to check on her.
I sneakily entered her room, ready to kill her. Immediately I entered the room, my eyes shot wide open. What is she.... it's almost as if she was expecting me.
"You're finally here" she said to me. Where did the beautiful lady in the picture go? She looked like bones. Just how sick is she?
"I was expecting you..." She added. Her voice sounded so weak, yet... gentle.
"You knew someone was going to kill you?" I questioned her.
"Someone? You mean, Karl?" She asked with a peaceful smile on her face.
She knew her husband was after her life. Yet, she keeps wearing that beautiful smile. I look like a villain in her life.
"He would have killed me months back, but he waited till today. How lovely of him. Don't worry, you don't have to do your task. I'll end up dying anyway" she said, showing me the pile of drugs in her hand. She wanted to commit suicide even without me showing up.
I just silently watched her. She has so much, she has everything but not her husband's love. Tears rolled down Gabriella's cheek as she told me her short story. I stood by the door, listening to my target's story. Someone I should have eliminated when I got in here.
"What's your name?" She asked me, after speaking.
"Gabriella" I replied. She smiled hearing the name. We shared the same name.
"If you're ever in my shoes, you should never see Karl as a bad person"
"He tried to kill you!" I said. f**k! What am I doing? Am I supposed to be having a conversation with her?
I heard footsteps, the maids were coming to check on her and also, close the windows.
"No, I ruined his life first. If I were to have another life, I'll try to make him fall in love with me than for him to hate me. Thank you, Gabi for caring for me" she said.
I watched her throw those pills inside her mouth. I couldn't stop her. Even if she didn't do that, I would have killed her myself. She
"Ma'am, are you up?" There was a sudden knock on the door. I got close to the bed to confirm if she was dead. She is. I jumped out of the window, not minding what happened next. Before I got to the gate, the maid screamed echoed around the mansion. I didn't kill Gabriella, but I watched her kill herself. She died because she didn't get her husband's love.
It's the first time I've ever felt bad for my target.
I got to my bike and drove to the base to report to my boss. What exactly would I tell him? I did the task? She killed herself?
Fuck! This is annoying.
I got to the base after thirty minutes drive and went in to meet the boss. I could see the others glaring at me. It's not like I was also liked in the assassin quarters. I was used more than the others. I've been doing this job since I was eighteen when my father sold me here to pay off his debt, since then... I've been doing one task or the other.
I ignored them and went to the boss office. Immediately I entered, I was welcomed by the smell of cigarette. He saw me and let out some laughter.
"You did it, Gabi. I'm proud of you" he said to me, placing one arm around my shoulder. It was heavy, but I couldn't push him off. He's my boss.
"You have no idea how much Mr Vaughan promised to pay for this mission. One billion dollars. When that is done, you'll be given half of the money" he said, followed by an annoying laughter.
"But..." The tone of his voice suddenly changed.
"We'll need to get rid of the evidence" he concluded.
What evidence is he talking about? I didn't leave any evidence behind. Well, I thought too quickly. I was the evidence that should be gotten rid off. I lowered my head and saw a dagger in my chest.
Blood spilled from my mouth.
"You were the best out of everyone in this base, my dear. However, it's Mr Vaughan's wish. Blame him for everything, even your death" he said with a smile. Wish or not, boss had always wanted to get rid of me. I could see it in his eyes. The excitement that he has finally gotten rid of me. Perhaps that's the reason why everyone outside were glaring at me. They knew it was the last time they were going to see me.
I fell on my knees, my hands were trembling as I wrapped it around the dagger. I pulled it out and moaned in pain.
"Don't worry Gabi, I gave you a painless death. You can thank me for that. I promise that I'll give you a perfect burial" he planted a kiss on my forehead before I started to lose consciousness.
Ah! I could see hell already. The lives I've killed since I was eighteen, now, it's my turn to die. Mr Vaughan, even if Gabriella, your wife can forgive you, I will never forgive you.
.
.
"She killed herself using drugs. Time of death was around 8pm last night..."
Huh? Whose voice is that?
"Contact her family and prepare a burial. Since she's dead, it's better to take her away from this room before she starts to rot"
That familiar voice. It belongs to Mr Vaughan.
Why am I hearing his voice? Aren't I supposed to be dead?
"Uh, I just saw the miss's hand. She just moved!" a trembling voice yelled.
"What are you saying?"
I heard someone's footsteps. It stopped and I felt the person standing right in front of me. Before he touched me, I grabbed his hand and shot my eyes wide open.
It really is Mr Vaughan. The cops and the maids who were standing behind... They looked shock. I was also shocked. Why am I in his house? Why is the room so familiar?
"Gabriella... How are you still alive?" He asked me.
Gabriella?
Did I... Did I get into his wife's body? How on earth did this happen?
