CHAPTER FIVE: Reunion

1265 Words
JUNE'S POV I didn't get to say anything before Apollos had me in the dungeon cell, for the third time in two weeks, but this time, awaiting execution. ‘What explanations were there to give?’ There was nothing I could have said to Apollos that would justify Sekani being in my custody. I had been starved and humiliated on the stockade and now left to wait for death. A short lived life for a second chance. Unrecognized by the very reason I wanted to live, and maltreated by the one who should have given me life. ‘What was the essence of life? Maybe I did deserve death,’ I lamented, in wait for the end. “Well, well,” I heard a familiar voice walk in. “Guess I didn't need to do anything to get you out of our lives to begin with,” Stacy said, “You were perfectly going to do the job, all by yourself,” she added. I raised my head and stared at her with bloodshot eyes. The negativity arising from her, killed my cells. “See you at the guillotine,” she said. “Obsessed with a mere omega, even as Luna?” I asked. “She is a threat to you, isn't she?” I queried. “You always wanted to be with him,” “That's why you didn't hesitate to work your way into his life, even though you claimed to love Jessica as your friend,” “But now he has eyes for June and you're insecure you might just be replaced.” I spoke, staring directly and fiercely into her eyes. “Apollos wouldn't dare,” she responded, her fierceness betrayed by the lining of fear in her tone. “I hold all his keys, every single one of them, and you speak nothing but gibberish,” she hit the dungeon cell, showing some anger that there was a barrier to the pain she hoped to cause me. “Who are you?” She asked, staring deep into my eyes. I stood my ground and it didn't take long for Stacy to figure it out. “Jessica?” She called. “Hello, old friend,” I hailed. “I see, the moon goddess gave you a second chance at life,” she said, rolling her eyes. “I see you didn't hesitate to take the first,” I replied. “I had nothing to do with your death,” she defended. “But what does that matter now, seeing that you're going to die by the hands of your mate in a few hours?” She probed. “He has no record of you,” Stacy said, I burned with anger, knowing that she spoke the truth and now I had a battle glaring at me. “He will learn the truth,” I replied. “Who's going to tell him?” Stacy jestily asked. “It's the word of a k********g, lowlife against that of the powerful Luna,” she said, “Please, by all means, spill the truth to him.” “Tell him who you are,” she urged. It was as though she saw through my soul. I wasn't ready to admit my identity to Apollos, but I was also not willing to see my family with Stacy, not anymore. “If I were you Jessica, I would crawl right back to the hole I came from,” Stacy said. “I carried the seed of your stupid child in me for months, and went the extra mile to be here,” she said, “I'm not letting some weak, desperate Omega ruin all of my hard work.” Stacy seemed even more enraged, finding out who I was. “You will not get away with this,” I replied. “Who's going to stop me?” She probed, “in three hours, you will be returned to the land of the dead, where you came from.” “And that is beneficial to everyone,” she added, turning her back to walk away. I was burning with anger and, for the first time, I found my wolf bursting out of me. In aggression, I morphed into a white wolf, breaking the bars of the dungeon cell, and springing at her with my claws. Stacy, who was now heavily pregnant and had reduced reflexes, didn't get the opportunity to act in self-defense. My first strike at her had her on the floor and breathing heavily. Guards rushed into the dungeon space and launched an attack on me, while some picked up Stacy and took her away from me. Since I hadn't very much learned to control my wolf, she raved and struggled for a while, but was eventually subdued by the guards. I was immediately taken to the courtroom to meet Alpha Apollos, bound hand and feet in chains. Apollos didn't hesitate to give me a death sentence, and the journey to the guillotine became immediate. I only had my eyes fixed on Sekani, as I walked to the guillotine. He was standing right beside Apollos, as they watched my sentence be executed. I still needed answers as to his origin. The guards laid me in readiness for my execution and had the blade descending quickly for my neck when Sekani ran towards me, forcefully loosening Apollos’ grip on him. Seeing the Alpha Prince in the way, the guards managed to pause the blade, just before it could harm the little lad. “Mama,” he called. Tears trickled down my eyes. ‘He really was mine!’ ******************* My execution came to an end as Apollos tried to figure out what had just happened. He ordered that I be brought to him. As I approached his high and mighty seat, the crowd that was assembled had nothing but murmurs and gasps on their lips, accompanied by pointing of fingers. “Silence!” The head of the pack official yelled, as I stood before the assembly. Apollos ruled that I be burnt alive at the stake and the Alpha Prince be kept far away from me, but while my stake was being prepared, it was back to the dungeon for me. Already willing to lose it all over again, I sat in the hay with crossed legs. “June?” Apollos called, as he entered the dungeon cell. I got up and stared at him. “I know you're not June,” he said, “Jessica,” he called. My eyes widened in shock at the realization that he had finally figured it out. “Apollos,” We stared into each other's eyes, and he unlocked the cell, joining me behind its iron bars. His grip around my waist as he planted a kiss on my lips was all the trigger I needed. He lifted me off the floor, holding my thighs firmly and passionately smacking his lips against mine. In a short period of time, we were both unclothed and Apollos had me moaning at the steady movement of his hands on my c**t, as he had me pinned to the wall. My moaning increased as his strokes triggered memories of bliss in me. ‘A happy life we had, amidst its struggles,’ Apollos got dressed, leaving me bare. He walked out of the cell, putting me right back in lock and key. “Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about the judgment you ought to face,” he spilled coldly and walked out. My heart sank. ‘I was going to die by the hands of my mate.’
