JUNE'S POV
“How could he?” I paced about the shabby room from end to end.
‘In three months, replaced me with Stacy, the only friend I had’
“June?” The fine maiden interrupted.
“What is wrong? You've been acting very off since you woke up,” she said.
“Uhm,” I stammered.
“I miss my best friend,” she said, “the pack house was unbearable these past few months without you,” she threw a hug around me.
“Uhm…”
“Kate,” she said, helping my confusion.
“Kate,” I called, “when did Alpha Apollos begin his reign of the Crystalline pack?” I asked.
“The Crystalline pack?” She expressed confusion.
“June, this is the Half-moon pack,” she said.
“The Crystalline pack was destroyed three years ago,”
“Alpha Apollos, who came here as a slave, lost his mate in battle and in that rage, he took on Alpha Hermes in a duel,” Kate shared,
“And since then, he has ruled with Luna Stacy over the Half-moon pack,”
“Wow,” I exclaimed under my breath.
Reborn three years later in the enemy pack, but with my mate as Alpha.
I ran from the room. Heading nowhere in particular, my feet led me to the garden.
Green has always been a source of peace for me.
Apollos and I would bond over playing in the pack house garden and talk about the different flowers we had to groom as nothing but pack gardeners.
My eyes caught the most eye aching sight.
‘Apollos in Stacy's company.’
Apollos planted kisses on her bulging stomach. They were a happy couple.
‘Was I wrong to be upset that my mate had moved on, three years after I died on a quest to save him?’
It was a war of logic against emotions.
Apollos did deserve happiness, and if he found it in Stacy's arms, I had no right to be upset, or so I thought.
“Mama,” the cutest three-year-old ran up to Stacy and Apollos.
I watched from a distance, with tears rapidly forming in my eyes.
Apollos never even had the decency to mourn me.
If he now had a three-year-old with Stacy, he rose to power and immediately married her.
My heart broke into a thousand pieces.
I wanted revenge.
Although I thought they deserved happiness, I still thought I deserved to be respected.
Their smiles pinched my heart and my soul clamored for revenge.
***************************************
“June!” Apollos yelled as I walked past the courtroom.
His high-pitched tone sent shivers through me.
I walked towards him with my head bowed to the floor.
“I want a medium rare steak, immediately!” He ordered.
“Huh?” I blurted.
Apollos would never eat steak, even if he required it to save his life.
“You have a problem with the instructions you received, June?” He raised his brow and the tone was very authoritative.
“Not at all,” I said, hurriedly walking away from him.
Stacy was walking towards me, while I hurried out to attend to Alpha Apollos’ request.
“Luna,” I grudgingly said as I walked past her.
It took a few minutes to prepare Alpha Apollos’ request and as I approached the table with his meal.
Stacy slightly placed a block on my path and I landed terribly on the floor with the tray and cutlery shattering into pieces.
My hands landed on the shards of glass and a piece got buried in my palm, causing profuse bleeding.
“Clumsy!” Stacy yelled. Immediately, I landed on the ground.
Apollos hit the table, furiously getting out of his chair.
“I have zero tolerance for stupidity,” Apollos said, “but what I cannot tolerate even more than stupidity is incompetence, June.”
I was awed at the zero care that they showed towards the fact that I was injured or that Stacy caused my clumsiness.
She rolled her eyes and showed no empathy towards me.
“First, eat that,” Alpha Apollos ordered.
The stake was covered in the milk drink that accompanied it.
“Clear that up, now!” He yelled.
“With your tongue!” he added.
Tears flowed from my cheeks as I followed every spilled drop with a lap and chewed through the steak.
Stacy watched from a short distance with a proud and evil grin.
I was still on my punishment of lapping like a dog when three packed house guards surrounded me from behind.
They lifted me off the floor and whilst they did, Alpha Apollos had something to say.
“Throw her in the dungeon for three days,” he said,
“That should cure her of her clumsiness and incompetence,” he added, as the men led me away.
As an omega, my healing rate was very slow and I bled out until I eventually slipped into unconsciousness.
“Wake up! You're free to go,” a guard announced, shaking me vigorously into consciousness.
I was first overtaken by confusion.
“The Alpha ordered your release one day before it's due,” the mean guard said, raising me to my feet.
“You better roll in gratitude,” he added as I walked out.
‘How could Stacy be this mean?’
‘What was her aim in tripping me over?’
‘Wasn’t it bad enough that she didn't hesitate to replace me in Apollos’ life?’
‘Why was Apollos now so cold and mean?’
He very well understood the humiliation we passed through, serving in the Crystalline pack, why was he comfortable inflicting misery on a fellow Omega?
It didn't make so much sense to me, but in all of it, I only had one thought on my mind.
“The Alpha Prince”
I couldn't help noticing his piercing deep blue eyes. It drew me closer to him and I yearned to be in his space.
As I walked back to my room, after three days of being neglected, and left to bleed to death.
In addition to all their crimes against me, mean treatment was something I couldn't bring myself to take.
Leaving me only one quest,
‘Revenge!’
