Chapter 6 The Seven Prayers of the SeerAt the time Ierii spoke her name before the Queen, Quilla was in the sacred grove on the holy mountain. She had carefully laid out the pattern of a maze beneath the trees with small white stones. She had based her pattern on the sacred number seven and to walk it she passed the centre seven times before she reached it. The constant turning and bending of the path meant that at the end she had covered a great distance and yet never moved farther than a few metres from where she had started. This type of maze had always been associated with the Goddess.[2] It was inspired by the spiral, one of the most basic and evocative symbols in nature, and there was no question of getting lost within it.
