The Stray continued sniffing the air around him in search of the closest human in his vicinity. His nose caught a strong scent, a human, and began running in its direction.
Blank, the silver haired boy, readied his blade as the Stray approached. He planned on thrusting his knife between the fourth and fifth rib, straight to the heart.
Wait for it. He thought to himself. Come on, get closer.
The Stray got close enough. He opened his mouth and lunged, intent on biting his victim and attempting to sate his thirst.
Blank saw his chance to attack. He used the bottom of his left palm to smash the Stray’s jaw closed, ensuring the shockwave would force the head to look up toward the sky and thrust the knife in his chest, impaling the heart. “May your soul return to whichever deity you believe in. And may you rest in peace in the afterlife.” He whispered into the Stray’s ear before twisting the blade and effectively destroying the heart.
The Stray burst into ash covering the grass and some of Blank’s clothes. He wiped off what he could of the ash.
As he attempted to walk away he saw another stray begin making his way to him. This one was clad in black and ran at him with a vengeance. Blank tried to prepare for the next battle but didn’t have time to pull the knife back out before the Stray got into range.
“s**t!” He cursed, raising his arms to provide some sort of defense.
The fist that struck his arms was heavy, the force of it enough to make his arms sore. He looked over at his opponent’s face and couldn’t help but gasp. The one who attacked him was the one he had been looking for:
Crow.
