The Collapse
Lena awoke gasping to the sound of shattering glass followed by erratic screaming from the floor below.
"As if the dreams weren't bad enough! Just One night-That's all I ask!" She grumbled at the ceiling before reaching under her mattress to retrieve her revolver. She slumped off the bed away from the window when she heard angry shouting in the alley. The light from the flames across the street faintly illuminating her room. She sat for a minute staring at herself in the sliding glass door of her closet. She looked as tired as she felt. Her dark blonde waves were tousled and tangled from her tossing and turning all night. Dark circles were beginning to show under her olive-colored eyes. Her lightly tanned skin looked pale and lackluster. Her white shirt was drenched in sweat.
"I guess you should get dressed" she said to her reflection. Waiting, as if it would get up on its own, then grunted as she pulled herself up and opened her closet. She set her firearm on the nightstand and pulled the wet shirt up over her head. It caught briefly on her perfect sized C-cup breasts, which excited her a little despite the commotion. She grabbed a matching bra and panties set (just in case), a tank top, a random sweater and some distressed jeans and quickly changed.
Within minutes she had her work boots and holster on, her hair brushed and up in a bun... time was up. If she was wrong she'd come back for the rest, but in the meantime her backpack and duffle bag would have to suffice. With the sound of sirens approaching like a loud howling she grabbed her bags, phone, and keys and ran for the stairwell. Not wanting to chance getting caught in the elevator if the power was cut again, she made her way to the alley. Her trusty jeep was in a parking garage two blocks away and she was running out of time.
Lena's cell phone chimes as she starts the vehicle. It is Adam, her little brother. "LEAVE NOW it's your only chance. I will meet you on the bridge if I can. He's out of control"
"Crap"
Meanwhile across town:
Ben: "Where the heck is she?" He bellowed. "She should have been here already. I thought you gave her the heads up. We need to move out Now!"
Charlie: "Relax. I'm sure she will show. If you want I can send Adam for her. Maybe she's at the bridge"
Ben: "Do it or plan B happens now! I want everyone accounted for and at the warehouse in one hour."
