Chapter 2

Lorraine's POV

“Did you put your clothes inside already?” I asked Hesly.

She nodded her head in response. I walk towards her direction and notice how uneasy she is and I couldn't guess why. Even if I read her mind, her thoughts are in havoc.

“What?” Nahalata niya atang kanina pa ako nakatitig sakaniya.

“Is there something bothering you?” I asked.

“Oh come on, Lorraine. Don't read my mind everyday I am also in need of personal space you know.” She removed her suitcase on her bed, resting it on the floor as she sat at the side of her bed.

“Uhm, I didn't. It's written all over your face.”

Umasa akong may sasabihin siya kahit isa sa akin subalit nanatiling tikom ang kaniyang bibig. Inilagay niya ang kaniyang tingin sa sahig na para bang may gusto siyang sabihin ngunit may pumipigil sakaniya.

Kahit pa sabihin natin na mabubuwag na ang Dexra Evenfall matapos ang misyong ito, hindi ko pa ‘rin mapigilan hindi mag-alala sa tuwing may kakaiba sa kanila.

“Hey, ladies! We're going!”

Charles's voice echoed in the hallway as the knock on the door appears. We can hear many footsteps passing by Hesly’s room. Nodding Hesly’s head, we both held up our bags and left the room to locate the boys. We found them at the dorm’s opening, fully prepared for our travel.

“Mga babae nga naman ang babagal kumilos nako.” Napailing-iling si Jason habang mapang-asar na nakatingin sa amin ni Hesly.

“Miss ko na si Insan.” Jayden squeeled as he hugs his teddy bear.

These past few days, Jayden was crying non-stop. He really loves his cousin, I can't blame him for crying.

“Let’s go.” Carlo announced and he was the one to go first.

I followed him from behind, abandoning the rest of the Dexra Evenfall occupied conversations. Under my ebony cloak, I was wearing a white dress that falls above my ankle. The weather is quite cold even though summer is approaching.

I heard Hesly and the others following from behind still discussing something. While walking along the hallway, I can't help but infiltrate other people's minds to know what they've been thinking. And actually, they tend to stare a lot whenever we are around.

‘Siguro ipapadala na naman sa isang misyon...’

‘Bakit kaya...’

‘Ang gwapo talaga ni Charles...’

‘Girl ang cute nung transferee ano pangalan niya?’

‘Anong misyon kaya ang isusunod nila? Diba halos katatapos lang ng Digmaan?’

‘Lorraine Marioneta... The princess of Pumei Land.’

‘Unveiling comes with a prize... A massive prize, my dear Lorraine.’

I automatically stopped on my tracks as I heard an anonymous thought that came from a stranger. My attention wandered away from the others but his.

Discerning someone who have caught me skimming his own mind was the last thing I could think of. I tried so hard not to shatter the smile plastered on my face.

‘Everyone must know the consequences of breaking the future's purpose.’

‘Feril...’

‘Princess Feril...’

‘She's alive.’

‘But Feril' s existence will soon be erased.’

‘And Realms will fall.’

‘ALL WILL FALL.’

"L-Lorraine..."

Naagaw ni Hesly ang aking atensyon at halos manghina ako nang matagpuan kong halos patayin ko ito ng aking mahika. Napadako ang aking tingin sa ibang mga estudyante at natagpuang kahit ang Dexra Evenfall ay nakagapos ang mga leeg mula sa aking mga strings.

"What t-the hell Lorraine?" Nahihirapang sambit ni Charles.

I didn't notice how I absent-mindedly release my magic through the whole crowd and it almost feels like somebody was deceiving me. As soon as I relaxed my heavy grip on my suitcase and gathered myself, my magic disappeared. I simply surveyed the whole area barely to suspect someone was playing with me.

Who was that?

“Ang boring naman, kailangan ba talagang ganito magiging task natin? Hindi nga natin alam kung ano ang pinagsasasabi ng headmistress ah.” Reklamo Jason.

“You sure you know where we are going?” tanong ni Hesly kay Carlo na nasa driver’s seat.

Isang tango lamang ang ibinigay ni Carlo dito habang nakatuon ang atensyon sa daang tinatahak namin. Kasalukuyan kaming nasa isang highway at hindi kalaunan ay bumungad sa amin ang nagsisitaasang mga gusali at mga taong abala sa kanilang mga pinaggagagawa.

“Marami bang pagkain doon sa resort na 'yon? Hihi.”

I smiled as I steal glances at the busy people walking on the sidewalks. “Indeed. There are plenty of foods at the beach resort, Jayden.”

And with that, I heard him jolted cheerfully like a child. He then began conversing with the teddy bear he was holding since we left Crimson Academy. For Jayden’s age, I must confess that his personality isn't well-suited for him.

“Hala! May cotton candy oh!” Itinuro ni Jayden ang isang vendor sa gilid ng kalsada na nagtitinda ng cotton candy.

This place seems too nostalgic. Road widening is still continuously occurring and soon in the future, trees will only be a myth. Their activities appear to be so displeasing to look at. The garbages being discharged in every place we go screams how illiterate these people are. Just how disrespectful these people are to nature?

That must be the motive why mother nature had her wrath against humans.

“If only it is legal to annihilate these humans, then we wouldn't see any today.” I chuckled lightly as I grabbed their attention. “I badly wished to abolish humanity just to create a new and pure era.”

Sinundan ito ng tunog ng pagbukas ni Hesly ng isang chichiriya sa aking tabi na dahilan upang mapunta dito ang atensyon ni Jayden. “You are not a God to begin with, Lorraine. Only God can judge and eliminate these people. Although, I couldn't agree more by just the fact that their actions disgust me. And oh, I know it is needless to say it but they are rapacious creatures.”

“Everyone is, Silly.” I stated in a gentle tone. “But not as much as them.”

“Hoy! Mababait ‘rin kaya sila hmp. Akala niyo naman, linibre nga ako dati nung angel cotton candy ihh.” pag panig naman ni Jayden sa mga mortal.

“What? Sinong Angel?” Natatawang singit ni Charles mula sa passenger seat at kumuha ng chichiriya mula sa kaniyang bag.

“Angel nga ihh. Hindi naman Angel pangalan niya, angel talaga siyaaaa.” Jayden pouted in frustation.

We all laugh at Jayden, making an effort to convince us to believe that an angel did really treat him. The smile that I was plastering the entire trip never breaks as I took a glance at the rearview mirror.

This is all his fault after all. I never knew he was the traitor. Pagkatapos niyang pumatay mas hindi ko inakala na tatanggapin pa 'rin siya ng headmistress. For now, I shouldn't let my guard down. I do not know for sure who I could trust and who I couldn't.

Besides, I'm satisfied no one did die but Chelsea. However, Carlo's breathing structure gives rise to my suspicions regarding the manipulation of Chaos and I hope Hesly and the others did notice something too. Mnemosyne on the other hand didn't get the chance to see Carlo alive for she left the academy after the war has ended.

“Are you all aware where Mnemosyne went?” I asked.

“Hmm... kasama ata si boss.” Sagot ni Charles habang busy sa paggamit ng cellphone.

“Uhh, bakit magkasama sina Nathan at Mnemosyne?” Hesly uttered.

Umubo si Jayden para kunin atensyon namin. “Kasi magjowa sila? Hihe.”

“You’re kidding, right? I thought Rose and Nathan were in a relationship.” Finally, the quiet man has finally spoken.

“HA?” Sabay-sabay na tanong nila na para bang Hindi makapaniwala sa kanilang narinig.

I giggle at the amusing sight of Dexra Evenfalls that made Hesly turn her head towards me. “Lorraine! You knew?”

Mas siningkit ko ang aking mga mata habang nakangiti. Of course, I knew. No one can hide a secret from me though. I'm a keeper of secrets. All profound mysteries are inside Lorraine Marioneta’s mind– the daughter of Marioneta family; the heiress of Pumei Land, the Land of Strings.

“She's really taking advantage of her ability.” Komento ni Charles habang umiiling-iling. Nginitian ko na lamang ito marahil tama naman siya.

“Gusto ko 'rin maging mind reader!” Hesly pouted, “My ability sucks.”

Iwinagayway nito ang kaniyang kamay upang gamitin ang kaniyang abilidad. In a snap of her fingers, Jason and Charles are now wearing nothing but bikinis.

Nanlaki ang mga mata ng dalawang binata at napatingin kay Hesly.

"WHAT THE– HESLY!" Sigaw ni Charles at tinakpan ang kaniyang ari na bumubulagta sa manipis na bikini.

“HAHAHAHAHA EW, ANO YAN JASON BAKIT ANG LIIT.” Umalingawngaw sa loob ng kotse ang halakhak ni Hesly.

Namula naman si Jason at tinakpan ang kaniyang ari. “Don't you dare look at it, you perverted woman who call herself a Grace!”

I can't help but to laugh on about what Jason called her. Perverted woman who call herself a Grace.

She has Essence magic, also called as Nature magic. And she is the Grace of not just Gaea Land but also in the entire Elemental Realm. Yet, her personality and actions tell us otherwise, from the way she speaks, the way she walks, she's admitting that she's somewhat an amazona.

“Hala may p*****t bang Grace?” inosenteng tanong ni Jayden.

Binatukan ni Hesly si Jason na nasa likuran namin nakasakay. “Anong manyak! Porke’t nakita ko ‘yang maliit mong putotoy!”

Mas lalo akong natawa dahil sa sinabi nito. I can even hear Carlo laughing from the driver’s seat while stealing glances at them in the rearview mirror. Her dialogues are too straight, what will happen if her parents caught her mumbling such unfeminine statements? Knowing that she was blessed as the Grace of the Elemental Realm.

“Putotoy ka dyan! Suntuk–”

“Can you kindly shut up, Jason?” I said in a calm tone.

Of course, even though he hasn't responded yet, I released my magic, binding the strings on his body to manipulate his every movement.

Narinig ko naman ang halakhak ni Hesly. “HAHAHAHA NICE ONE LORR-”

“You too, Hesly. You laugh to loud.” I saw her body stiffened as I saw how the strings affect her body figure.

“We’re not your pretty little puppet, Lorraine.” Hesly rolled her eyes.

I grinned mischievously and relished the sight of them looking so displeased by my actions. This is why I cherish my magic powers, Puppeteer really suits me.

Makaraan ang ilang minuto ay muling naghari ang katahimikan sa loob ng kotse matapos ang mangyari. Napansin kong nakabusangot pa ‘rin ang dalawa habang pinipilit ko ang aking sarili na hindi matawa dahil sa pagiging arogante ko.

Napako ang tingin ko kay Charles na nasa passenger seat, nakasuot pa ‘rin siya nang Bikini pero parang wala na siyang pakialam sa ngayon. Pasimple akong sumulyap-sulyap sa katawan nito habang nakaupo sa tabi ko si Hesly na nakatingin sa itaas nang kotse. Nanatiling nakadikit ang aking mahika sa kanila, wala na akong natatanggap na reklamo mula sakanila.

I fixed my eyes on Charles as I linger them on his muscles. He was busy staring at the road. Ang hirap tignan nang abs kung nasa backseat ka. But why does his muscle reflexes every time he moves? I wanted to see his masculine body, not just his muscles.

My smile broke off as my cheeks burned into a pinkish color. Napatingin ako sa loob ng kotse para makumpirmang walang nakahuli sa akin na tumititig kay Charles subali’t halos mahulog ang puso ko nang makita si Carlo na nakatingin sa akin mula sa rearview mirror. He's smirking like a devil.

Did I just caught up in act?

Biglang napunta ang atensyon namin kay Jayden nang idikit niya ang kaniyang ulo sa bintana nang kotse. “WAAAAH! IHINTO NIYOOOOOO!” Sigaw nito.

Magtatanong pa sana sila kung anong problema niya pero agad na nanlaki ang mga mata nila nang lumabas ito ng kotse kahit na umaandar pa ito.

Jayden, you small brained idiot.

Carlo seemed to be in a state of shock but I just sat there waiting for someone to tell me what on the mortal realm is going on.

“Pucha! Tol! Park mo sa gilid!” Sambit ni Charles kay Carlo habang nakasilip sa bintana.

Ginawa naman ito ni Carlo at matapos iparada ay nagsibabaan ang mga ito. Nagpahuli ako bumaba marahil hindi kagaya ko ay nagmamadali sila. We gathered as we search for Jayden's idiotic frame on the street.

“There he is!” Sabay turo ni Hesly sa isang direksyon. Tumakbo naman ito at sumunod ang iba.

Napabuntong-hininga nalang ako at sumunod sa kanila. Sa halip na tumakbo ay naglakad na lamang ako. Wasting my energy on unimportant issues is the last thing that I would have done.

“Jayden! Anong ginagawa mo dyan!” Tanong ni Jason nang makalapit sila dito.

Mula sa malayo ay nakita kong may hawak na babae si Jayden habang mangiyak-ngiyak niya itong tinititigan. “Si insan oh!” Humihikbi nitong tugon.

“Are you out of your mind or what? Let go off me!”

I froze on my feet as I heard her feminine voice from afar. My heart started bombarding on my chest as the mask I was wearing fell off my face.
