The Lost Twin Princess

Chapter Three: The Encounter

While she is traveling, she keeps having the feeling she was being followed but every time she would look behind her no one was there that she could see. She told herself she was just nervous, for traveling by herself that nothing was there. She gets to a small town where there are a lot of stores and shops everywhere she could look. There was one store that she wanted to stop at and get something that she needed before she arrived at the kingdom. That was the best dress store they had there. She looked at the dress hanging there and couldn’t figure out which one she wanted to buy. That was until she saw “the dress”. It was a nice flowing purple gown with dark blue flowers around the skirt of the dress and gold trimming around the neckline. She told the teller that she wanted the dress and so he wrapped it for her, and she paid for it and packed it along with her other belongings on her horse’s back. Now that she had her dress nothing could stop her for her mission to the kingdom.

Sir Joseph Roberts knew who the girl was and wanted to know where she was heading, he knew he had to protect her on her travels. He followed a good distance away from her so she wouldn’t get scared and spook her. He seen her buy the dress from the store teller and wanted to do something nice for her to show he only wanted to see her get to where she was going. Since he saw the color of the dress, he looked for a brooch that would go with her figure and her dress. He had little sisters of his own that taught him of their shopping habits and what would go with what. So, he stops at a jeweler and bought a nice slimming necklace that was a gold chain with dark blue and purple jewels in the center. The thing was now, how is he to approach her to give it to her and show her he wanted to help and not harm. While he watched her, he started to get butterflies in his stomach, and he has never felt this way about a woman ever. He didn’t know what to do about this feeling, but he would hope he would feel different when he saw her to her destination.

Cassandra stopped at a little boutique and was looking around when outside the window she had seen Sir Joseph Roberts walking around looking for something, or was he looking for someone? She went out to confront him and she apparently scared him when she yelled out his name from behind. She watched him jump and slowly turns around with a shy smile on his face. He was holding a small box with a golden ribbon on it. Now that she could see him, she thought of how much more handsome he was. His face was bold but had a soft feature about him that she couldn’t put her finger on. He has a small shadow of where he hasn’t shaved yet today. His jawline was like it was chiseled to him. He has strong shoulders and even under his shirt she could see muscle everywhere but just in the right places. She looked at him with a smile and asked him “now Sir, where you the one that was following me here to this city?” He didn’t know what to say. He was speechless. So, all he could do is shrug his shoulders with a small grin on his face that says yes “I’m guilty”.

Cassandra starts to laugh when she sees this and tells him, “Why did you follow me and not say anything dear Sir nor approach me if you wanted to?” Sir Joseph hangs his head and gets close to her ear and says in a small voice, “I know who you are.” With a surprised look on her face, she looked him in the eye and just thinks to herself what if he is here to hurt me but before she could retreat he leaned in again and say to her in the same voice “I want to help you get to where you're going and to get to know you more if you would allow me to do so my lady.”

She was surprised at what he just said to her that she didn’t know how to answer, so she just slowly shakes her head yes with a small smile on her face. He took her small hand and placed it at the crease of his arm, and they started walking in silence while looking at the different stores and shops. By the time they made it to the end of the city he helped her get back on her horse and handed her the small box that had a gold ribbon on it. She asked him “did you buy this for me?” He shakes his head yes and gets on his own horse. He looks over at her while she slowly opens the small box and when she sees what it was, she lets out a small gasp and says, “Sir I can’t accept this?” “And why not my lady for it is a birthday present that goes with your gown that you had bought earlier in the dress shop.” He says with a smile on his face. She looked at him puzzled and then looks at the necklace and she see it does exactly match it with the same colors and all. She gives him another smile and thanked him for the gift.

They start to ride towards where he knew the kingdom was, but he didn’t understand why she was traveling alone.
