Why me

405 Words
I opened the door and memories started flooding my brain. When my girls were in their teens, they were obsessed with this story about a heroine who wins over a rich CEO and his 6 year old daughter. She vaguely resembled his first love and daughter's mother, but where is his first love was timid, the heroine was strong willed and stubborn. She wasn't afraid to stand up to this oppressive CEO and speak her mind. Her boldness won her the love of the main lead and everyone around her. However, I seem to remember she was blonde with deep blue doe eyes. So who am I. I tried thinking hard, trying to remember anything from my past live. I had just gone through some old boxes and found this book again. I chuckled at how ridiculous the story was before I threw it in a donate pile. 'Why was the main villainess the girl who was forced to get married at 18 and take care of a child who wasn't hers? How is that even fair? The real villain is the old man who married her with the intent of taking advantage of her young age and naivety so he wouldn't be bothered with raising his own kid. And in the end he discards her with nothing and let's her become homeless and die on the side of the road while he goes off and plays happy family with a new woman. And that woman knew she was stepping into a married family's life, so whatever the circumstances of the marriage was, she's still a home wrecker. Why do they get to live a happy life?“ I remembered trying to tell my daughters how messed up the dynamics of the situation was and how they shouldn't look up to the main characters. “Gosh, Mom, it's just a story. I guess you wouldn't get it. You've been single this whole time, what do you even know about love.“ They would tell me. “I just hate how the villainess acts like shes the rightful lady of the house when the male lead doesn't even love her. And shes so nasty to his daughter, why should he stay with her.“ “Yeah, Mom, Yelena got exactly what she deserved.“ I gasped loudly as I walked behind the maid leading me to the dining room. 'OH NO, I've become THAT Yelena Summers!'
