I see the light!
"How many weekends in a row is this? I've already done my part. I raised you girls all by myself and now what? You expect me to raise your kids for you too?" My tone came out harsher than intended but I couldn't help but feel taken advantage of. My daughter was 35 years old, but trying to live like she was 20. She went out every weekend and expected me to watch her kids. I thought I was done once they started working and got married, but one is divorced and living with me and the other lives her life however she wants with her husband's money and expects me to be her free babysitter. "Geez Mom just watch the kids, it's not like you have anything better to do", Ariana, my youngest said as she turned the corner. "Julie said she'd take me out with her and pay for everything." I could feel my blood pressure rising. How did I raise such ungrateful children. I poured everything I had into them, and this is how they treat me. I was 56, in the years I should be relaxing and finally enjoying life. "Fine Julie," I said, giving in. "Just please pack them some clothes that fit this time. I had to run to the store to buy them some last time. You don't pay me and your sister's already a black hole to my finances." Just as I was about to say my goodbyes, I saw stars and my head went light. I took one step to close to the stairs and fell. "Help" I cried weakly. The room was spinning and I was struggling to keep my eyes open. "If you didn't want to watch the kids, you should've said so," was the last thing I heard before it all went black. When I opened my eyes, it was morning and I was in a bed, but not mine. 'Where am I?' I jumped out of bed, shocked. 'Did my kids finally put me in a home? At least it looks expensive. And did I just jump out of bed? My body doesnt ache! My head doesnt feel foggy either. I didn't need a second to just sit and gather myself, I'm just up?' I looked down at my hands. They were young, unworked hands. They looked like they never scrubbed a dish in their lives. I looked in the mirror, but the face looking back was not mine. It was a young girl's with green eyes and auburn hair. "Oh no, I've become Jolene!" I almost screamed. A knock at the door made me jump. "Madam, are you awake? Breakfast is ready" "Uh yes, one moment" I threw on the most familiar clothes I could find and scrambled to fine some identification. I found her wallet and looked inside. Yelena Summers, 21 years old. Why does that name sound familiar? "Madam?" The voice called again. "Coming"…
