Derry’s POV
Holly manages to excuse herself from the mission without a hitch. Mickey and Stone are so relieved she won’t be coming that they don’t hesitate to believe her lie. I think if she had told them she couldn’t come because the tooth fairy had just walked into the clinic they’d have accepted it if it meant she was safe. The moment she leaves Mickey turns to me.
"What's that sly smile for?" Mickey asks me with a suspicious frown. "I can tell you are up to something, Little Red."
"You don't want to know," Hawk says with a slight growl to his tone as he pulls me to his side.
"Yuck! Yeah, you're right," Mickey shudders and walks away.
"Thank you for covering for me," I smile at Hawk.
"I will always cover for you, no matter what. It's me and you, always," he vows, making my heart
