5. Dinner

ATHENA

I was sitting in my cabin and reading a boring medical file of my patient. I am waiting for my shift to complete so that i can go home. It has been almost 1 week since the engagement. Life is normal and boring for me till now. But i can't stop thinking about Andrew. He left a impression on me which i can't remove it from my mind. Those blue eyes haunt me every night.

I didn't knew about Amelia and Andrew's relationship so i asked Evelyn about it. She simply said that they are just good friends and Amelia once saved Andrew's life. But i know better than anyone else that they are not friends maybe my sister take him as a friend but Andrew doesn't. Anyways i don't care until and unless he doesn't creat any trouble for my sister.

I sighed and looked at my watch again it was past 8. I looked at the file and covered my face with my hand. I can't handle it anymore so i closed the file and collected my things to leave for home.

I reached home within 45mins. When i entered the gate i saw many cars were parked infront of my house. I was kind of confused because i don't remember mom telling about any guest visiting us today. But then my eyes widened when i realized that i have forgotten about the important dinner .

Shit!!!s**t!!! How can i forget about it. Dammit!!!

I took a deep breath and tried to control myself.

Every month the Paulsen, Hamilton , Knight and Oliver have a dinner party to mingle with each other and let the new generation also know each other. This was a tradition that our forefathers started and we need to follow them. And this time the dinner party is arranged at my house and i am definitely late for it.

I quickly walked inside the house through the back door as using the front door was quite risky and i didn't wanted to create any scene. I walked inside my room and threw my bag on the bed. When i looked at myself in the mirror i realized that i was a mess, my hair was tied in a messy bun , the dress was wrinkled and i have dark circles under my eyes. I took a deep breath to stop myself from panicking and decided to first take a shower.

I took a quick shower and went inside my closet to choose a dress. After searching for a while finally i found a perfect dress. It was a strapless green bodycon dress. I paired it with green heels and wore diamond studs. I did a simple makeup and applied a nude lipstick. I curled my hair and kept it open.



I looked at myself in the mirror and smile at my image i can't say that i was looking beautiful but i was looking better than before with these thoughts in my mind i walked towards the living room.

When i didn't found them in living room i realized that they all went to dinning room for dinner.

I took a deep breath before entering the room. I really don't like apologizing but being the member of upperclass you need to be humble and polite. I entered the room with a smile.

"I am sorry for being late. Please accept my humble apologize"

Everyone were staring at when i was done speaking. There was a awkward silence for few minutes but then mom nodded at me with a smile. After then only i sighed in relief.

I looked at Amelia and she gave me a small smile. She was sitting beside Lance. I narrowed my eyes when i saw a girl sitting on the left side of Lance and she was trying to get his attention but what made happy was that he was simply ignoring her. I controlled myself from not laughing and looked around the table. I saw a empty sit but it was beside Andrew.

I wish i could leave this dinning room right now but knowing my family i can't. So i started walking towards the empty seat. I slowly sat beside Andrew without making any noise and trying to be invisible. I wish i knew the spell or portion of Harry Potter so that i can become invisible whenever I want. I was brought out of fantasy world when i heard someone speaking beside me.

"Hi, Athena "

"Hello Mr. Knight " i replied

He frowned when he heard my reply

"So now we are formal. " he asked.

"I can't afford to disrespect a Knight can i ???" I replied.

After that small conversation i ignored him as much as possible. I looked at my food as if it was the most beautiful thing in the whole room.

After the dinner i was standing in the lawn with a glass of whiskey when i saw Amelia walking towards me. She gave me a smile. I don't understand how she manages to have a smile on her face everytime. She was looking very pretty in her magenta bodycon dress.

"You forgot about this dinner didn't you???" She asked me.

I nodded my head in yes.

"Do you know the girl who was sitting beside Lance???" I asked her.

She was suprised by my sudden question but she instantly masked her Suprise with a smile.

"Scarlett Greene, she is a good friend of Lance." She replied.

"They looked close" i spoke while taking a sip of my whiskey. She looked hurt.

"Yea...Lance and Scarlett are childhood friends and she is very close to Lance's grandmother. She wanted them to get married but his grandfather choosed me instead. " she spoke sadly.

"What about Lance" i asked

"What about him" she asked.

"How does he feel about this situation "

"I don't know " she replied.

"Maybe this Marriage is forced on him but that doesn't mean that he likes Scarlett " i spoke.

"How can you be sure about that." She asked me

"Because if he liked her then he won't have ignored her like that" i answered her and saw her thinking about something. I continued speaking

"It doesn't matter what his grandmother thinks about you but what matter is what Lance thinks about you. You are going to spend your life with Lance not with his grandmother. And if i am not wrong then i think his grandmother forced Lance to take Scarlett with him to indirectly insult you."

"I think you're right because she never liked me so maybe she did it intentionally. " she spoke.

"Trust is very important in a relationship " i spoke.

She hugged me happily.

Then all of sudden i was hugged from behind and if my reflexes weren't good than i would definitely fell on my face.

When i turned around i saw Evelyn was the one who was hugging me. She was looking very sexy in her LBDs .

"Lets take some pics" she asked and forced me to take pictures with her.

After sometime i was tried and was looking around my surroundings when i saw Scarlett and Andrew were standing in the corner and were busy in a conversation. I don't know why but i don't have a good feeling about this situation. I need to keep an eye on Scarlett. I don't get a good vibes from her.

Next morning,

I woke early as i need to go to hospital. Although today is a Sunday but i need to go for a emergency surgery. I quickly took a shower and started getting ready for hospital. I wore a bow top and white jeans and paired it with black heels and butterfly earrings. I braided my hair and kept my makeup simple. I paired my outfit with a black bagpack.



I started putting my stuff in the bag and walked towards the dinning room.

"Good morning mom" i greeted her with a smile.

"Morning sweetheart. Are you going somewhere " she asked me.

"Yes i have a surgery today " i replied her.

She nodded and spoke

"You're not leaving this house empty stomach ."

I sat on the chair and she started serving the food. She filled my plate with my favourite chocolate pancakes and a cup of black coffee.

I ate my breakfast quickly and left for hospital.

I reached hospital and directly went towards my cabin. I changed my clothes and got ready for surgery.

After 1hrs i came out of the OT. I sighed and wiped the sweat from my forehead. It was a simple bypass surgery nothing i can't handle. I was walking towards my cabin when i heard someone calling my name. When i turned around i saw Dr. Ashley walking towards me.

"Good morning Dr. Athena"

"Morning Dr. Ashley. How can i help you "

"Chief told me to give you this file. He is your new patient and is a important person so treat him properly " she spoke while giving me a file.

I nodded my head and turned around to leave. I changed into my normal clothes and started walking towards the VIP ward to check on my new patient.

When i opened the door of the room. I was shocked to see the scene infront of me. I blinked once, twice but the scene didn't changed infront of me.

What the hell is he doing here???
