200 years ago, it was decided that only those of alpha blood could lead and rule werewolf lands. All alphas, Lunas, and especially the king and queen must have alpha blood in order to ascend to a position of power. 200 years later, and alpha she-wolves are all but extinct. The king and his counsel are desperate. Even though his son, the prince, is only 5 years old, they must find him a wife and queen for his future throne. Just when all seems lost, he hears word of a she-wolf born with the blood of an alpha in none other than the Black Castle Pack. A sister-pack to the capital. As soon as the king caught word of this, he rushed to Black Castle Pack to find that this rumor was, in fact, true...He couldn't stop staring at the sweet baby girl, his thrones' future. An immediate blood vow was made with Alpha Sylence Black. A vow that the new she-wolf, now named Emberlee Ann Black, would be mated to the prince come her 18th birthday. Everyone thought that they had figured everything out, but what they didn't realize was that with a name like Ember, sparks would fly, and sparks can be unpredictable..

"The principle of a decree"
The capital 200 years prior Queen Amelia P.O.V. My lungs were burning, and my feet hurt. I haven't ran like this since I was a girl, but I had to make it to my kings bedside. It was the middle of the night, but this was the best time. Actually, there would be no other time. I had waited for the perfect opportunity to execute my plan, well, the first part of the plan anyway. I tripped over my feet, "These stupid shoes!" I yelled as I kicked them off of my feet. I looked up to see an omega fetching water from the fountain. She looked terrified. "Get back to work!" I yelled. She gasped and quickly whisked away. I took a deep breath, I was acting crazy, and I needed to have my wits about me in order for this plan to work. I noticed the fog from my breath. It was so cold tonight. My feet were frozen, but my wolf would help me warm them. I could not keep running in those shoes. I checked to make sure the scroll was still in my bag and took a sigh of relief when I felt it. I took off running again. This time faster, I felt rejuvenated after that little break. I had to run all the way to the tower. The tower where the kings quarters were. I suppose my quarters are there as well. Usually, this time of the night, I would be in my quarters, but I had to go to the village to find the black witch. I had to get the poison. I touched the vial on my neck to make sure it was still there. You see, my plan is simple. First, I get the king to sign the decree tonight, and then tomorrow, I will feed him the poison. First off, let me say, I know poisoning my husband sounds awful, but he is already dying. I don't much care for the man anyway. He took me away from my home and my fated mate. After his first mate died. I was only chosen because of my status. It was a politically arranged marriage. The king had 2 sons. His first son, Prince Bran, was born of his last mate. His mother was an omega, and bran also bore omega blood. The kings second child is my son, Prince Louis. Who is the apple of my eye. He has strong alpha genes and is way more fit to rule. Some of the counsel members agreed. So when my husband named his firstborn child as heir to his throne, it caused quite an uproar. All of that changes tonight. The scroll I carry is a decree that from now on, only an alpha can rule. I had to wait till the king was too delerius to get him to sign. I have been told that he is at that point now. Nearing the end of his miserable life. I just have to get him to sign and then present the signed document to the counsel. As soon as it is done, I can give my husband this vial and finally help him off the throne and into the grave. I didn't remember the run here, but now I stood at the doors to the kings chambers. I swallowed loudly as I looked up at the deep oak doors. They looked so imposing. I had a thought about getting caught, charged with treason, and murdering the king. It's not too late to back down. Then it hit me, if I don't do this, Bran will ascend the throne and not my baby boy. I have to do this! So with new determination, I slowly opened the door. I first spotted the maids and healers. I dismissed them with a hand gesture, and they quietly scuttled away. I paused. And waited until they were all out of the room. And then I walked to my kings deathbed and looked upon him. His skin was gray. At first, I thought perhaps I was already too late, but then I heard him take a ragged breath. "Lola?" He croaked, "Is that you? You have finally come to see me?" I grimaced. Lola was the name of his first mate. I figured if he thought it was her, he might be more compliant with the signature. "Yes," I whispered, "it's me." I could hear him sob loudly. He looked so pitiful. So much for a boisterous king. "I love you," He cried. He never said he loved me, and I instantly felt a ping of jealousy, but I dismissed it as quickly as it came. "How much do you love me?" I said, scooting closer to him. "Will you help me?" I asked. I'm trying to keep my voice as sweet as possible. "Anything, I'll do anything for you, Lola!" He said through sobs. I noticed that he was talking with his eyes closed. "Will you sign this for me?" I asked. I put an ink scriber in his hand and placed the scroll in front of him. He opened one eye, trying to eye the paper. He struggled to raise his hand, but I helped him. To my suprise, he scribbled his signature fairly quickly, and then leaned back down and whispered, "I'd do anything for you, Lola." I tucked the scroll away. And played with his hair. Until I heard him snore. I quickly made my way out of the room. I saw the maids and gestured for them to go back in, to which they ushered back in, and assumed their duties. I, however, made my way to the queens quarters. My gamma was waiting outside my door. He bowed when he saw me. "Your grace," he said proudly. "Hello Lenovo," I smiled. He reminded me of my mate back home. It was a time when I was brilliant and not so dark. Before the capital and the crown. I would tell you that I nestled in my bed and fell asleep, but that would be a lie. I sat on the age of my balcony. I was alone with my thoughts and watched the moon. When the sun finally came, the omegas came to help me wash and get dressed. An omega suggested that I change my necklace, but I refused. I needed this vial on me all day today. It was a slow acting potion, odorless, and colorless. I just had to get him to drink it and then walk away. Should be easy enough, but first, I must face the counsel. My breakfast was brought to me, and I questioned the omega on any news on the kings status. I was told he was still alive, but he was still expected to die very soon. I still had time. If I delivered this scroll to the counsel after his death, it would be suspicious. As of right now, the counsel still believed the king had a sliver of wits about him. If I present this any later, they will accuse me of tricking the king. My plan was working out perfectly. Since it was now time for the meeting. We held a meeting every morning, and the meeting lasted well throughout the day. You see, centuries ago, werewolves, vampires, and witches all were threatened to be extinct by humans. So a powerful witch created a portal, which was so powerful it took he life. All mystical creatures could live inside the portal in their own realm, safe from the humans. Upon first entering the portal, it is about a 2 hour walk to the capital. Although you can see it from the portal entrance, the capital is pretty huge. It is also the only place where all mystical creatures cohabitate. 6 members make up the royal counsel, a king and queen from each species. Which includes me. I made my way to the counsel with my gamma at my side and took my place on the throne. A few moments later, Bran walked in with a smug look on his face. His whole world was was gunna come crashing down. Stupid omega. I smiled sweetly. All my life in the capital has been a facade. I pretend to be sweet and fragile. Only I know how dark I really am inside. I stared up at the billowing counsel room. It was lined with dark marble, expensively furnished, and very little lighting. The vaulted ceilings were so high, often times we would have a flock of birds flying around up there, and I swear if you looked hard enough, you could see clouds. Perhaps it was some witches magic, though. The capital was breathtakingly beautiful, but it was the most dangerous place on earth. If you weren't constantly on high alert every day, it could potentially be your last. While I was deep in my thoughts, I heard the bells toll. The meeting had adjourned, and it was now or never for me. "As always, do any counsel members have any thoughts or questions before today's meeting?" The vampire king stated. " I stood up and stepped forward. I rarely talked in meetings, so when I did this, everyone in the room was shocked. "I do." I whispered quietly. I tried to look somber. "The king had made a decision late last night. He asked me to present this, this morning, " I said as I pulled th scroll from my bag. The vampire king stepped forward, taking the scroll in his hand and began to read it out loud. " It is hereby decreed that from this day forward, whoever may lead a pack, whether it be an Alpha, a Luna, or royalty themselves must have alpha blood to assume this leadership position In doing so, I propose that my second son King Louis will ascend the throne upon my death. This decree will ensure the leaders are the strongest and best fit for the role. Thus creating a better protection and sanctity of our species" "It's signed by the Wolf King," the vampire king stated. Smelling the paper where the signature was. I knew he could smell my husband's scent. "Let me see," the witch queen stated. She took the paper in her hands and closed her eyes. I got nervous for a second. Perhaps she could see what I had done. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes and said, " This paper was, in fact, signed by the wolf King" "this is madness!" Bran yelled. I almost forgot he was here. "My father promised me I would ascend the throne. My whole life! He swore it!" He screamed. " I'm sorry," I replied sweetly, still trying to look somber. "He didn't know how to tell you Bran" . His face was filled with hurt and rage. This child was an omega. He couldn't hide his emotions like an alpha. I almost felt sorry for him. Soon, he will be an orphaned omega. "So it shall be." The vampire king proclaimed. "From now on, all leadership roles among packs shall be members of alpha blood. All in favor say "I"." Everyone in the room except for Bran said "I," including me. Even though mine was a little delayed than the rest. "I'm sorry Bran", I whispered as he stormed away. Soon, the meeting went on as usual. We were in the middle of listening to a witch healer talk about a new potion she found for the crops when the tower bell started tolling loudly. I was so confused at first, and then it hit me. The king has died. I ran to Louis, he was going to be so confused. The guards were going to be coming for him soon. To start the coronation process, he still had no clue he was to be the new wolf king. I quickly took off running. The vampire queen shouted, " I'm sorry for your loss," as I ran out the counsel chambers and into the garden to look for my son. My legs burned, but I had to get to him. I thought I would have more time. It's time to explain everything to him, well, maybe not EVERYTHING. Not the part about me tricking his father. I clutched the vial on my chest and tore it off, throwing it in a well as I ran by. Turns out I won't need that vial after all. I finally found him. Standing there in the gardens, with a she wolf, I knew he fancied. " Louis!" I yelled. "Mom," He said. I noticed tears on his face. " My boy," I cried, fake tears, but still tears. " I have to tell you something." He looked at me with confusion. Tears still in his eyes. He loved his father dearly. " something happened," I stated. He looked at me in even more confusion. "I know that father has died, mom," he stated. "No, son, I did something." "What did you do?!" He stated, looking somewhat angry. I couldn't lie to him, but I couldn't tell him the truth either. I stood there with my mouth open, not knowing exactly what to say. All of a sudden, the guards appeared. "Prince Loius, you have been summoned to ascend as the Wolf King of the royal counsel and guardian of all werewolves." My son looked at me again. Lowering his voice, he whispered, "mom, what did you do?" I whispered back."I secured your future"
