Chapter 3: Overcoming demons

2165 Words
........Reya POV........... It had been 8 years since I was saved from Ryan, I had a loving family now, a brother and a mom and a real Dad. They may not be my biological family, but they acted like it. Hudson helped me learn about werewolf rules and roles. Like Chris was an Alpha, means he is the boss, when he uses his angry voice you have to do what he says. Lani is the Luna, meaning she is the female boss, she helps plan parties and events. She also gets to help make big decisions, like what to do with Ryan. Chris and Lani, decided to wait until Hudson and I were eighteen, then we would make the final choice. On one hand I wanted Ryan dead, but I don't know if I could let Sergio die, he was the one who truly saved me. And I missed him, he had taught me some Italian, which I would use to curse every once and a while. The only place I could really talk about it was at therapy, which I went to once a month, I needed someone who, wouldn't put their opinion in. I was made to talk about my scars each time, which I hated. I hid my scars, I knew if people saw they would ask questions I didn't want to answer. So i hid underneath my clothes. People called me weird and strange when I showed up to training in leggings and black t-shirts in the middle of summer. School was the same, it wasn't like I wore baggy clothes, I just didn't show skin. One day a dumbass named Sam cornered me next to my locker. "Come on Reya, people are talking, calling you a prude." He said to me as he tried to lift my shirt. Needless to say, I was called into the principles office that day.  "I am under the impression you punched Mr. Harlon for no reason Miss Fox." The principle asked. I also had taken the last name of the Alpha family. "No Reason? Funny, no he decided to corner me and try to lift my shirt without permission, Mr. Lowe." I said.  "Miss Fox, I'm sure you didn't need to punch him over something so harmless." Mr. Lowe sighed. I growled at him and his eyes shot to my anger contorted face. "Harmless, how was I supposed to know if he would stop? What if he tried removing my pants? What would you say then? You should be ashamed of yourself, I had the right to defend myself the moment he laid his hands on me. Unless you have anything else to say I'm leaving for the day." I growled at the principle, who's face changed from shock to shame. He nodded and I left. I went to my locker and grabbed my bag, hat and, skateboard and headed to the machine shop. I reached the steps of the school and skated to my safe haven, the place I go to get away.  Christian had told me I should have a hobby, something to reduce my stress levels. Hudson taught me how to use a skateboard and I was okay at it. But I needed something else, I was walking past the machine shop one day and saw Kane underneath a car, I handed him a wrench he asked for and crawled under the car with him. From that day on I was almost always in the shop with Kane and Garrison, sometimes Kane's son Jonah. I got to the shop and went into the back room and changed from my school clothes into the navy blue jumper and grey v-neck I kept there. I tied the sleeves around my waist and pulled off my hat, I brushed my cocoa colored waves. My hair nearly reached my shoulders so it was hard to put it up, so I usually left it down. I pulled on the worn converse and walked to the shop, I found Garrison working on one of the SUV's that were always having issues. I rolled my eyes and looked at the mini-van behind it, I went to the office and saw it just needed an oil change. I was about to start on the van when a Harley rolled in, I purred with the engine until the figure on top turned it off and put the kickstand down. I walked over as the person got off. I whistled at the bike walking around her, checking her out. "Look I know you got a thing for me Rey, but jeez tone it down in front of the guys." The guy said taking off his helmet. "You wish I thought you were this hot." I said picking off a dead bug. "Don't touch her with your nasty oily hands!" He squealed. "Clean." I said lifting my hands, showing the front and back, still checking out the bike. Something about bikes always made my day better. "So whats up Jo?" I asked.  "I'm looking for my dad, either of you seen him?" I shook my head at him and he rolled his eyes. I stuck my tongue out at him, he returned the gesture before turning to Garrison. Then I realized he wasn't in school. "He left a bit ago, don't know why." Garrison said from under the SUV. "Why aren't you at school?" I asked, Jonah turned to me, his dark blue eyes were filled with annoyance.  "Why aren't you?" He asked. I narrowed my eyes into a glare and crossed my arms over my chest. "At least I went. I just left early." I sneered at him.  "And I went to buy the lovely bike in front of you." He sneered back. I took a deep breath and froze. I spun to the door with my eyes wide and there he was, my demon. His green eyes were burning with anger, he I heard Jonah snarling at him. "Hello Reya." His raspy voice said. I growled at him, then he threw something at me. I felt a very hard object hit my head, slicing open my head. "Figlio di puttana!" I shouted. (Son of a bitch.)  I felt blood run down my face as I sat down on the ground. I couldn't see so I was no help to anyone. I heard feet running into the shop and I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. I held my clawed hand to their throat and growled. "Easy killer, it's Hudson." I took my claws from his neck and let him lead me to the back room. He helped me clean the wound, I got angry when I saw the scar. I ripped open my locker and pulled out my clean shirt. I ripped off the bloody one and threw the clean one on. I grabbed my bag leaving on my jumper, I put on my hat and grabbed my board. I was stopped by Kane on my way out, he took off my hat and looked at my now marked face. I growled and took my hat and stomped out of the machine shop, I went home and went to our personal gym and hauled off on the punching bag, by the time someone pulled me off my knuckles were covered in blood. I sat on the ground as the anger and adrenaline wore off. "Are you alright?" I heard Chris ask. "He just had add another one to the collection didn't he?" I said as I felt the sting of tears. Before I could think about it anymore Jonah came into the gym. He walked over to me and got on one knee then looked at my face. "It's not too bad, hell the scar makes you look bad-ass." He said it so seriously I giggled. Then he looked down at my hands and looked back a my face annoyed. "Really, so cliche!." He said in a dramatic voice while rolling his eyes. "You know me, I'm all about cliche." I giggled. Chris stood and left us alone after he got a mind-link. Jonah watched him until he was out of sight. "Reya, how did he know you?" Jonah asked looking back at me. I looked at the ground, and sighed. "Jonah, that isn't something I'm ready to talk about. Lets just say the last time I saw him was 8 years ago." I said hoping he would leave it alone. "Is he the reason you were so scared of everyone who growled when we were kids?" He turned and sat next to me and put his arm around my shoulder. "Yeah." I whispered. I took a deep breath, then Hudson walked in. "Rey, you can't just take off like that! Christ! What if he had come back!" He said before he saw Jonah. I glared at him, and he stood there a bit awkwardly. Jonah sighed and motioned for Hudson to sit. "To get our minds off of this s**t, I have news." Jonah said. "Spill." I demanded in a serious tone, happy to get off the topic of the monster. "I'm being sent to a training school!" He said happily. I raised my eyebrow and laughed. "How long will you be gone?" Hudson asked. "About 3 years." He replied. I took in a deep breath. "So I wont see you for 3 years?! You better give me a ride on your bike before you leave." I growled at him. He laughed, and jostled my shoulders with his arm. "Fine!" He dramatized, "But you can't wear that, I don't want that filth on her." He said snubbing my jumpsuit, which I realized had blood on it. "Don't hate." I said sticking my nose up at him.  "Whatever go change." He rolled his eyes. "Now?" I asked. "I leave in the morning. Like early so hurry up I want to look good." I sighed and rolled my eyes. Not that I would tell him, but he always looked good. His black-brown hair looked stunning compared to his pale beige skin, his dark blue eyes looked like Kane's. "Fine I'll get changed." I complained while rolling my eyes. I stood and walked to my room. I pulled off the jumpsuit and pulled on a pair of faded blue jeans, I put on my favorite, not worn-out converse and took off the grey t-shirt, pulling on a black v-neck instead. I brushed my messed up hair that was snarled from sweat, I sprayed it with dry shampoo, then I went to the kitchen where Jonah and Hudson were talking to our parents. I walked over and grabbed Jonah's arm pulling him to the door, just as Sam and Mr. Harlon walked in. "Alpha Christian!" Mr. Harlon said while glaring at me. I growled at Sam, Jonah put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me into him protectively. "What can I do for you James, and Sam?" Christian asked walking over. "It seems Reya, punched Sam in the face today, he said she was calling him names and when he tried to leave she punched him." James growled. "Tell him the truth Sam." I snarled at his son. He whimpered and kept his eyes on the floor. As he told them the truth I walked away, pulling Jonah with me. "And that would be why I wasn't in school earlier." I said as we passed the entry way.  "f*****g douche bag!" Jonah snarled. I rolled my eyes and focused on the bike. I walked over to her and purred, she was a pretty little black and orange thing. "Cosi bello." I said running a hand on her cold metal surface. "I can give you two a minute." Jonah said crossing his arms. "Shut up!" I said. I handed him his helmet and grabbed the spare. "You knew." I purred at him, making him chuckle. "With the way you were eye f*****g it earlier, yeah I knew." He said walking over and climbing on, I got on straddling her with my hips, I wrapped my arms around Jonah's waist as he started her. I purred with the engine, I felt his chest rumble with a laugh at my excitement. He kicked up the kickstand and we drove off, I was giggling as he flew through the trees. I squealed when he sped up passing a random car, something just felt so right about being on the bike. Before we got home I squeezed my thighs into the bike and let go of Jonah. I spread my arms out, I felt like I was flying. Too soon the ride was over, we pulled up in front of the house and I whimpered as I dismounted the bike. Jonah lifted his visor and looked at me raising his eyebrow. "Next time you see me I'll have one of my own." I said. He put the kickstand down. He got of the bike and pulled me into a tight embrace. "Don't forget to call." I said lightly. "The phone works two ways. I'll be home before you know it." He replied. "Happy early birthday Reya." "Thanks Jo." He let go and got back on his bike, his tight black jeans showing off his muscular thighs. I watched him drive off from the porch, I went inside taking the helmet with me.
