Chapter 4: Shifting

.........4 days later..........

I woke up in the middle of the night, when my stomach flopped in discomfort. I rolled out of bed and put on a robe and walked to the back-yard. My stomach had been going haywire the past few days, going outside and taking in the fresh air helped. Not today, the discomfort turned to pain, I felt like the silver knife was being ripped into me again. I cried out as my legs broke and I fell to the ground, I held back from screaming and crying as my body was ripped apart, my skin was on fire as long dark hair sprouted from my skin. My body began to tremble as the transformation came to an end. I layed on the ground for a while to weak to move, I was breathing heavily, when a large black wolf with blue eyes padded up to me. 

I stood on shaky legs and shook my head, making my body tumble to the ground. Hudson, didn't have this problem a few days ago.

(Hudson was never stabbed with knives dripping in wolfsbane, let alone a silver knife.) A voice in my head rumbled. (I am Venus your wolf. Glad to finally meet you Reya.)

You too Venus. How do we get stronger?

(We have to shift until you pass out, then we shift some more, we shift until the pain stops.)

Oof.

(You will want to stop, but we have to do this.)

Do you we start now?

(Yes.) 

I felt my bones begin to break again, the black wolf was looking at me with concern, but we had to do this. When I was human I looked at the wolf and sighed. 

"I'm alright, go run." I said to the wolf. He nodded and Hudson took off into the woods. I started shifting again and it was f*****g painful. Like Venus said, I shifted until I passed out from exhaustion, luckily I was in wolf form. I woke up and began shifting, slowly but surely, the transition became less painful. I passed out for a second time. This time I woke up in my bed, but I kept shifting, after about  7 hours I could shift with ease. I layed down in bed and fell asleep with Venus sleeping in my head, she was just as tired as I was.

"Reya, wake up." I groaned and looked at my family who was looking at me worriedly. I yawned and sat up clutching the blanket to my bare chest.

"What?" I grumbled. "I was sleeping."

"We know, you have been sleeping for about 12 hours." Hudson said.

"Nope, I was awake for about three hours after I was brought up here." I said laying back down. "Now I would like to get some more sleep." I said rolling over on my side, turning my back to them. I closed my eyes was asleep instantly.

I woke up again a while later and rolled out of bed. I pulled on a pair of underwear and white mens gym shorts. Then I put on a sports bra and oversized grey t-shirt, I walked to the bathroom and brushed my hair while I peed. I looked in the mirror above the sink while I washed my hands, my cocoa-brown hair was frizzy and misbehaving, so I patted it down with water. My brown eyes seemed a bit brighter than usual, even with the bags underneath them. I yawned and walked down to the kitchen where Hudson had his two best friends hanging out. I pushed them out of my way as I grabbed food, one of them wouldn't get out of my way.

"Move." I growled and he did. I made myself a bowl of cheerios and sat down at the table, sitting criss-cross on my chair. 

"Reya you're awake!" Lani said when she saw me. I smiled as I had food in my mouth, I held a finger up before I finished chewing my food.

"I got hungry." I said after I swallowed. She came up and hugged me from behind.

"We were so worried when we found you on the ground this morning." She said. I grabbed my bowl of cereal and pulled her to the master bedroom and closed the sound proof door.

"I had to shift until the pain stopped. Venus and I are weaker than we should be because of the silver." I said, then I took another bite of food.

"The thought of that affecting your first shift never crossed my mind." Lani said sitting down on the bed. 

"I didn't cross mine either ma. After I'm done eating, I'm gonna run with Venus, seeing as I didn't get the chance last night."

"Okay. Let Hudson know, he really wanted to run with you."

"I will ma." I said as I kissed her cheek. Then I left the bedroom and met Hudson, Paul and Quinn in the kitchen.

"Reya!" Hudson said pulling me into his chest. He had gotten taller after his first shift, he had also bulked up, I think I looked curvier. 

"I'm going for a run, you coming?" I asked against his chest. 

"Can Paul and Quinn come please?" He begged.

"Fine." I'll meet you at back. I said walking away, I grabbed some clothes and brought them outside. I placed them behind a tree and walked back into the house placing my phone on the counter, the boys walked past in nothing but their underwear, I followed them out and shifted like I had been doing it for months. They didn't get the chance to see my scars, I looked back at the three shocked wolves as they began to shift painfully. I let out a wolfish laugh and started running to the lake, I wanted to look at my reflection. I got there fast and looked down to see a grey wolf looking back at me. She was a dark grey with a black right ear and a silver-ish grey muzzle. Her golden yellow eyes were enchanting, I yipped happily, even though I could only see my face. 

There was a rustling in the bushes behind me, I looked at the woods where three wolves trotted out of the shadows. Hudson's large black wolf leading them, he was huge, standing at about 5 ft 8 from his paws to the tips of his ears. The other two were around the same height 5 ft 6 paw to ear, one was a deep copper brown, his eyes were a blazing orange. The other wolf had amber eyes the blended in with his tan-ish wolf, he had a small white spot on his left hip. Hudson walked over to us, and rubbed his head on my neck, he towered over us. We were maybe 5 ft 3 around my human height, I wriggled in excitement and playfully nipped his leg before running into the water. I put my snout in and blew bubbles in the water, Hudson let out a wolfish laugh and joined me. Paul and Quinn joined in after a few minutes, randomly Hudson jumped from the water and lifted his muzzle in the air and howled. I followed suit, Paul and Quinn did the same, then Hudson ran. I bolted after him catching up fast, we ran and ran and ran. Venus was ecstatic that we were able to keep up. We made it home to see Paul and Quinn sitting on the porch looking annoyed. I went behind my tree and shifted and pulled on the clothes I had layed there. I walked up to the two naked guys and the shifting brother and sat down on the porch swing. 

"Rey, how can you shift so easily already?" Hudson groaned.

"Because I shifted non-stop for 7 hours." I said. They all looked at me like I had three heads.

"Why would you do that?" Paul asked.

"To see people give me the face you are making right now." I said with sass. I got up and strolled into the house to see Chris and Lani talking to each other very seriously. I walked over to them and they looked at me.

"How are you feeling Rey?" Chris asked.

"Better than I was this morning pop." I replied. He smiled lightly and rolled his eyes. 

"Lani and I need to tell you something Rey, it's about your dad." I sighed and sat down. I had been waiting for them to tell me about him. I knew the monster wasn't my father, I had heard them in the hospital that day. I heard them say I had Alpha blood, and Ryan wasn't an Alpha. 

"Who is he?" I asked grabbing a stool.

"His name is Alpha Carson Peters. Your mother said he was abusive and a cheater, we have an invite waiting to send to him, if you want to meet him Reya." Lani said.

"Send it, I want him to know what he caused." I said coldly as I grabbed my abdomen. I stood and pushed the stool back before going to my room. I wanted answers and he was the only one, who could answer them.

............4 days later..............

I was sitting on the steps of our house when I heard the rumble of and engine echo through the woods. I had my hair down and brushed, I put on a black t-shirt and faded blue skinny jeans. I had on the worn converse I usually wear in the shop, I had also placed my flat brimmed hat on backwards, the red converse logo at the back of my head. Hudson, Lani and Chris walked out of the front door as I stood. Hudson took my hand and we waited for the vehicle to arrive. 

A black Camaro rolled to a stop right in front of our house. The driver's side door and a man with chocolate colored skin got out, his dark black hair was hanging in dreads, his eyes looked black as he walked around to the passenger side of the vehicle. A gorgeous woman with caramel colored skin stepped out her long legs and slim figure made her look like a model. Her black hair was straight, and hanging down to her ass. Her roman nose and small mouth were perfectly set on her oblong face. Her almond eyes were a pale brown. I could see a tattoo poking out from under the hem of her dress, that ended on her thigh.

"Alpha Christian, Luna Lani. Thank you for the invitation, this is my Luna and wife Naomi." Alpha Carson Peters said. I looked nothing like him, my mother had lied. 

"Do you know Valery Summers?" I asked him. He looked at me strangely and took me in. I stood tall, he needed to know.

"I do, she was born in my pack. You look like her, why do you ask?" He asked me.

"Valery came here just about 16 years ago claiming to be running from her abusive mate, she was 2 months pregnant when she arrived. She told us you were the Alpha she was running from, that you are Reya's father." Christian said. 

"She claimed What?" The Luna roared her eyes going black. I felt the sting of tears, so my mother was a liar. 

"We are sorry to do things this way Alpha Carson, we meant no disrespect. Reya just shifted and had questions for her birth father." Lani said. "Do you know possibly who she was mated to?" 

"Unfortunately I don't know. Reya is it?" He asked, I nodded. "You look like her. I don't know who your father is, but I only see Valery." I closed my eyes as my body began to vibrate.

"Great. I look like a f*****g liar." I spat before turning and walking into the house and going to my room. I let the tears fall. I sat on the middle of my floor my knees near my chest. I pulled my phone out and looked through my pictures, I got to my favorite one and pulled my phone to my chest and rocked back and forth. I looked down at the tiny screen of the flip phone to see a blurry photo of Hudson and I. We were eating Ice cream and laughing it seemed. Hudson walked into my room and sat down behind me, he pulled me into his chest and I sobbed.

"I just wanted answers." I whimpered.
