Chapter 5
Kendra stretched and crawled out of bed. She had her choice of one day a week off because she had to work Saturdays. It was nice that she got to choose (she usually chose Mondays, so she’d at least have two days off in a row), so she didn’t have to miss work for appointments. And her boss was decent about giving her the odd Saturday off for family gatherings. Today she had a doctor’s appointment, nothing serious, just a regular check-up, but it wasn’t until closer to lunch time so she actually got to sleep in for once.
After a leisurely shower, she made herself a proper breakfast, an omelet, heavy on the cheese, and settled in to enjoy her food and the morning paper.
