When Kendra did not show up with her mask on some days later, she was baffled at the treatment that she receive from Laura. Kendra was scrubbing the walls of the pack house when Laura's mean words filtered to her.
"Why are you not on your mask, Kendra?!"
Laura asked in her usual scathing manner.
"I'm sorry, but I only got uncomfortable having the mask on my face at all times." She said apologetically.
"How so, Kendra?" Laura asked as she took a few steps towards Kendra and Kendra retreated in fear.
"Stop moving, you dimwit!" Laura yelled as she advanced even further. Kendra stood still as she received the slaps and kicks and pinchings from Laura.
"i***t! The next time I see you without the mask, you shall receive even more beatings, foolish soul!" Laura yelled as she stomped off, satisfied.
Kendra could not help it anymore as she ran out of the pack house, tears trailing down her eyes. She reached the bushes and shifted into her wolf form before taking a wild run in thick bushes surrounding her pack. She had an idea that she was going to run off out of the boundary of her pack but she was more about running away at the moment from everything that made her cry.
She ran tirelessly in her wolf form until she reached a certain spot she had never reached in the wild.
When she screeched to a stop at the spot in the forest that appeared to hold tremendous promises of a good time alone. She changed back into her human form and cautiously walked to the spring in the spot. She stood staring for a while and then eventually reached a hand out to have the water on her skin. It was a warm spring. Kendra was delighted, she had never seen a warm spring or have one shrouded by so many beautiful shrubbies wash her skin. As she took off her clothes and stepped into it, one thing was sure, she was no longer on the borders of the Moon Stone pack, her pack. She had no idea on whose borders she was on but she was certain to wash away her fatigue and sadness in the warm spring gushing with so much gust.
Kendra stepped into the arms of the waiting relaxing spring, her clothes on the field. She was in the spring for long, languishing in the feel of it and enjoying every bit of relaxation it brought her.
Kendra was not certain that she had seen clearly when she turned around in her naked form and saw a huge brown werewolf staring at her. Its eyes sparkling with delight. How long he had been there she had no idea. She acted on pure instincts and ran out the spring, into the shrubbies to hide her naked self from the penetrating eyes of the big beautiful wolf. She could feel her legs tremble as she clasped her hands around her body and submerged herself in the bushes. A part of her was worried.
What if the big wolf was the owner of the land she'd been bathing on in a spring she'd just seen for the first time?
What if he was angry and was going to look for her, visit her pack and make it known to her alpha that she was trespassing?
She shuddered at the thought and prayed within her that none of all the things she imagined was going to happen.
When she peeped from her hideout and the wolf had gone, she stumbled out and grabbed her clothes. She was in them and running back to the moon stone pack as fast as her legs could carry her. She was not going to risk getting beaten and abused another time in one day. She felt the tears clogging her eyes as she ran through the bushes, the branches of trees whipping against her and the sound of the wind rushing past her ears. She tried to convince herself when her vision started to blur that it was only the impact of the wind but she knew within her that she was crying and the tears that ran down her cheeks as she ran was from inside her.
Kendra was still at a loss as to why the big handsome wolf had decided to watch her. If she was trespassing, why was she not ordered to leave the woods that did not belong to the Moon Stone pack? Why was she only watched?
"Where are you coming from?"
Kendra heard the Luna ask as she stepped back into the pack house, ignoring the many Servants running one errand or the other. She stilled.
"My Luna." She said with a bow, her eyes averted and panic assailed her. Had she been reported already by the wolf who had stared at her?
"Where did you go, previously, Kendra? I had called for you and you were no where to be found." The luna said.
She was not angry, Kendra noted. She was calm and composed as she usually was when she was not angry or anxious over anything
"I'm sorry my Luna, I stepped out of the pack house briefly to take a run in the woods and clear my head."
"And what do you have in your head that needs clearing?" Laura asked from behind as she joined her mother on the terrace.
"I'm very sorry."
Kendra apologized
"I looked for you to come and massage my feet but you had gone to clear your head. What nonsense!"
Laura said. Kendra took one last deep and started to apologize again.
"I am truly sorry, my Ladies. It won't happen again, I promise."
Kendra knew she was going to have to run in the woods some other time to clear her head but of course, she would only go when she was sure she was not going to be needed.
"Your mother slumped in the kitchen earlier. I wanted you to go see if she's still alive and that's why I wanted you."
The luna said and walked away.
