Brooke crossed her arms. She touched the necklace around her neck like it still belonged to her. Shade stepped between us. "Take it off." She stood there like a statue. "I said take it off." Still nothing. He stepped closer. "I'm not going to ask again." She smiled. He reached to the side and yanked the plaque off the wall so hard the drywall came with it. He turned back to her. "Don't make me do that to you." She rolled her eyes. Then she tore the necklace off and threw it on the floor near my feet. It skidded across the tile and hit my foot. The rage blinded me. I launched at her. Nothing mattered but getting my hands on her neck. Shade moved fast. Not fast enough to stop the first lunge. I got to her. Just barely. My shoulder hit hers hard enough to surprise us both. Shade
