Shade didn't say anything when he tugged my hand and led me down a quiet corridor off the med bay. The room we stepped into looked like it hadn't been used in years. Just a couple of chairs, one small window, and dust motes hanging in the sunbeam. I glanced around. The space was empty but open. It would make a perfect center room for a baby daycare. We were going to need it soon.
He stayed standing and looked at me with the strangest look on his face. "I've been thinking. About Corey and Haze. About raising them like twins."
He rubbed the back of his neck, paced once, then stopped and faced me again. "We could treat it like you carried both." He paced a few more steps and stopped. "Like they were born together. Raised side by side."
