I wasn't presented with any other target for the next two weeks so I spent most of my time at the gym lifting weights and running on the treadmill with my headphones on with soothing music booming through my ears for early hours of the day as my new daily routine before checking in the kitchen to grab something to eat. Without a target and a mission at hand, life in the Academy was really boring and mostly lonely even though the number of agents present on base. We weren't allowed to leave the premises except to embark on a mission which you must return when the job is done, we weren't allowed to speak to anyone about the academy when we reach the outside world on a mission and we also weren't allowed to make friends amongst ourselves in order not to be in a situation where you get to contemplate saving your partner at the expense of blowing off the mission. This is the more reason why I always looked forward to being on a mission as it kept me busy and gave me something to do asides hanging around doing absolutely nothing. I dropped face down on my bed about to have a really long nap when someone ringed up my room line "Agent Carter, report to HQ immediately." The person announced when I eagerly pressed down the receiver. "Yes!" I screamed to myself and jumped off the bed immediately, threw on a random shirt I swiped from one of the many clothes present on my desk over my orange tank top then brushed through my hair casually with my fingers and slipped on my cargo pants then hurried off excitedly towards the Headquarters as ordered. Being summoned to the HQ could only mean one thing, there's a new mission for me! "You sent for me Sir." I said to announce my presence as I stepped into the general's office eager and exited for what's to come. "The file in front of you, Pick it up" he ordered immediately in response and I did as I was told, snatching up the brown file before me in my hands and opened up the front page where my eyes met with the photo of my next target. "That is Antonio Moretti, you have a week to get the job done" He ordered while I scanned through the typed information of my next target present on the A4 paper I now held in my hand. "I won't fail you General" I replied with a bow. "I know you won't" came his immediate casual reply and I beamed with pride at the so much faith he showed in me just by his single speech. "Sir, Am I also teaming with Agent Curry this time or you have someone else in mind?" I inquired, seeing as I alone stood in the office with him and silently hoped I didn't have to team up with Agent Trisha who was always a lot to handle on the few unfortunate occasions where we get teamed with each other. "I'm afraid not, you'll be handling this mission on your own" he replied and dismissed me. It was no surprise going on a mission alone neither was it my first time but it was quite a rare situation and my eyes lit at the price tag attached to this particular mission which I'll have all to myself once the mission is done. Antonio Moretti, Your doom is me, I'm coming for you. I spent the next hour in the I.C.T lab on the internet with Rex the chief computer programmer and hacker making findings about my new target who happens to be the leader of the Mafia. That information alone should have been enough to throw just anyone off balance but I wasn't just anyone, I am Agent Carter! I was trained for this. In the next two hours, I was present in my room with a lot of sheets scattered around my table after I flushed down my clothes from it down to the ground to allow me enough space to work on the table. I next had his photo pinned next to the mayor's own and studied his features for a while. He appeared dangerous with his dark eyes and blank face that held an unreadable expression, his jet black hair was combed back with a few locks falling over his face down to his chiseled jaw. For a minute there, I found myself admiring his charms till I mentally smacked myself and regained all the seriousness I needed for this. It's only just a pity he got in the bad books of the general. I couldn't sleep, I began training immediately. Engaging in physical combat with the new recruits and sometimes the Masters, I trained also on archery to improve my aim alongside the endless brain work I did all night long mapping out routes and drafting plans on how exactly to get done with my particular mission at hand. I was granted permission by the general to exit the Academy in respect to my job at hand so I could properly get to scan the environment and make my perfect plot in order not to strike blindly. I found his home on the fourth day and my mouth hung open at the monstrous building before me surrounded by guards who I very well suppose are all members of the Mafia with their code of dressing. It was a two storey building and I got to know the exact positioning of my Target's room from one of his maids I snatched away on her way out of the house one morning. I had her at gun point all tied up and she opened her mouth without holding back in fear for her life which I still took away. Someone which such a big mouth deserves to die. After watching for two days, I got to know the exact interval time when the men on night watch switch into position. That is it, my entry point! When the former team is stepping out, I get two minutes to hurry into the compound and up his window before they take into position. The only problem right now is how to make it out. I wasn't trained to worry about escaping even before I embark on a mission. That's unhealthy for my title as an agent. How to get the job done is my only aim right now, coming out of it will fall in place somehow. With that, I got dressed with my black leather jacket I slipped on with matching black pants and boots that wouldn't announce each step I take, then a pair of gloves and a mask over my face to keep my identity hidden. After a firm nod to myself in self encouragement, I ventured out for my mission leaving every atom of fear behind me. I waited for that perfect moment and exactly when the clock struck 11:00pm, the exchange was beginning. The fence was outrageously high but I was too skilled to be hindered by the height of it as I was in the premises in no time. I was working with time so I was as quick and careful as possible so I don't make a sound and get spotted. I was up the stairs that led up to his outer balcony and I heaved a sigh of relief when I spotted the window widely open so I didn't have to c***k my way in. Soon afterwards, I was standing present in Antonio Moretti's room. The lights where turned out and it was quite dark in the room but not dark enough for me not to find my way around all thanks to the bright rays of moonlight. I moved closer to his bed with my knife already held firmly in my right hand ready to jump on him and send my little knife into his chest several times over but something seemed off. Only when I took that next step closer did I realize the bed was empty. What the hell? Where could he be? Did I get tricked by that maid? The sounds I heard downstairs informed me that the exchange of men was already done with. For a split second I couldn't think straight. I was trying to come up with a quick idea when I got startled by the light turning on and illuminating the entire room while I turned back sharply. "Looking for me?" Antonio inquired in a deep thunderous voice while casually seated on a chair behind me, watching me intently like a hawk. Oh no, this was so not supposed to happen.
