Chapter 4- I am sorry

2694 Words
Excited giggling and squealing of two children broke the spell we both were engulfed in. Two girls who am sure were not a day more than seven approached us their eyes wide in shock and awe. "Am Leah." the blonde politely introduced herself. "OMG! Its really Lilah and Tyler!" The brunette exclaimed overly excited. "She is Lauretta." Leah said helping out her still star struck friend. "Am a big fan of TYLIE....I think the name is so cool and I love love your motorcycle... It's totally badass."Leah gushed. Lauretta held my hand in an adorable gesture to grab my attention. "Am a fan of team JAH.... Jay is so cool and cute and you are so beautiful... I love your love story a lot..." she replied excitedly. "I think Tyler is cuter!" the blonde argued. "Can someone please tell this children am hot not cute!" Tyler mumbled to me while I tried hard not to chuckle. "No Jay is cuter and smart!"Lauretta replied. "Would you please take a picture with us?" Lilah asked her missing tooth in display. Tyler looked at me a silent gesture of seeking approval. I shrugged. "Say cheers."the blonde commanded as she brought out her phone to take a picture. "Cheers." we all obliged and the picture was taken. "Thanks a lot you have made our year." Lauretta excitedly replied. "Thanks Lilah you are so cool!" Lilah excitedly replied. "Are you both busy? I don't know if you guys would mind joining us... We are at the other side of the park with our friends and we only came here to get ice-cream...many of our friends are big fans of Team TYLIE And team JAH and they would be thrilled to see you both..." they trailed off starring at us hopefully. "That sounds like a lot of fun but.." I discreetly hit him before he could finish his statement. He glared at me. "Of course we would be delighted to meet them." I replied. The smile on their faces got wider if that was even possible. "what are you doing?" Tyler whisper yelled. "Making people happy." I whispered back. "yeah!" they both chorused as they both took our hands and led us to the other side of the park. There were about ten children there. "It's Tyler and Lilah!" an ecstatic voice announced. Tyler groaned. "Trust me it's gonna be fun." I mumbled to him amidst the excited squealing and shouting. "Does your motorcycle fly?" one of the children asked Tyler after we have gotten the squealing and screaming under control, we have took turns dropping our autograph on both their water bottles and back pack with a sharpie. Then we had taken lots of photos, like hundred of selfies with them. Tyler chucked. He was good with children something that I found shocking and scary and maybe a little bit adorable especially when he had done a bow tie for one of the children, the bow tie sucks, but well the moment was f*****g beautiful. "Who told you motorcycle flies?" Tyler asked. "My older brother in middle school." he proudly said. "..... He says your motorcycle do fly." he replied. "It doesn't... Though it is very fast almost like you are flying but yeah it doesn't actually fly." Tyler replied. "Ohhh.." "So how did you meet Jay?" one of the girls asked. "Mmm it's a really long story guys." I replied. "Tell us about it." the children chorused. "Yes please do tell." Tyler said smirking at me. "Well....it was in middle school as you all know and I was the new girl in school. Tyler here had spread rumours about me having a strange illness and so everyone avoided me." I almost giggled as all the children turned towards Tyler giving him the "not cool" look making him squirm uncomfortable. "In my defense I was 10 years old.." he mumbled. "Well I was on my own in English class at the back not even hearing what the teacher was saying...i was crying.. Everyone was strange and mean to me... Then Jay without saying a word to me had offered me a handkerchief...and since then I never ever had any reason to cry again." I concluded. "Awwn..." the children chorused. I looked at Tyler and for a fleeting second I thought I saw remorse in his eyes but it was gone before I could even blink almost like I imagined it. "But why aren't you here with your partners rather rivals?"one of the children asked confused. We looked at each other at loss of what to say. "Because though we are competitors we are also friends...lemme say friendly competitors and we have decided not to let our competitiveness get in between our friendship.." Tyler said. "I hope that made sense." Tyler whispered underneath his breath. "I think it does... Even to us." one of the children replied. The rest nodded. I smiled. "But you both only had mean things to say to each other and about each other what changed?" another child asked. "Save us! This seems like a mini interview." Tyler whispered scared. I nodded. "Only that they are a bunch of children and there are no cameras." I pointed out. "Who wants to do some fun things with I and Tyler?" I asked standing up. "Me!" they chorused forgetting that one of their question was unanswered. The rest of the day was spent running around the park giggling and panting hard until their parents had to come pick them up and even till then they didn't want to leave, they only left after we promised to visit their schools. A promise am sure we didn't plan on fulfilling but nonetheless we took the name and location of their school luckily for us if we ever plan on visiting they all attended the same school and were classmates. "Today was crazy." I mumbled. "Yeah." Tyler mumbled. He kept on starring at me. "What?" I asked. "Was I really that mean to you in middle school?" he asked. "You are always mean to me Tyler." I commented drily. He chuckled and looked away. "What's so funny?" I asked confused. "Remember middle school....seventh grade you had hit me on my face with a baseball just because I called your dolls lame."he said. I sighed. "You had beheaded all my dolls in the sixth grade Tyler." "And remember you had told Elsie in the same grade that girl I really liked that I hated Harry Potter and she had refused to go out with me." he complained. I rolled my eyes. "you never liked her...you thought it would be cool to have the tallest girl in our class as your girlfriend besides that was just payback for pushing the chair intentionally when I was about sitting down and I landed on the ground." I said. He laughed hard. "That were good moments you know... The look on your face was priceless." he commented. I glared at him. "You were always so mean to me." I accused. "You too." he replied. I nodded in agreement. "But why were we so mean to each other He shrugged. "I don't know I guess it's because the world expected us to be...you know enemies. Biggest competitors - archenemies it only made sense." he replied. "But I never wanted to be your enemy.... Anyone's enemy at all. The first day I arrived at school I had said hi to you but you ignored me and the next day you were already spreading rumors about me having a strange dangerous flu... You made my first month in middle school like hell... Almost everyone avoided me." I said hating how hurt I sounded even though it happened long ago. "Except Jay?" he asked. I nodded. "Did you really cry?" he asked. I raised an eyebrow at him. "What do you think? Dad became rich and we had to move... I had to leave my friends, my school,my home behind and then I come to a oddly strange town And a school where no one wanted me. It was all too much for a 10 year old." "I guess I was a jerk." he replied. I glared at him. "okay I was a jerk just that I was used to the mentality that as we were competitors in business we were bound to be enemies. I hated you because you were coming into my world,at first when I heard about you or read about you or watched you and your dad on the television you were so adorable..." "You think so?" I asked. "Thought so... And that's not the point exactly." he replied glaring at me. "I was just so mad at you because of what your dad was doing to mine... I was little, foolish even but that was no excuse to be such a scumbag and so am sorry." he finally said. I starred at him for a while shocked. "Did Luke Man bad boy just said sorry to me?" I mumbled. "Tell anyone and you are dead." he warned. "Okay." I mumbled not knowing if I should take his threat lightly or not. "So what now?" he asked. "We meet again." I excitedly suggested. "What do you mean?"he asked his eyebrow slightly raised in confusion. "Hi am Lilah...just Lilah and I would be your friend for the next sixty days." I replied bringing out my hand. He chuckled. "Tyler....and I would be your friend for the next sixty days too." he replied shaking my hand. I grinned. ************************************** "Jay..." I said out of surprise. Jay was sitted in all his glory in my sitting room reading a magazine. After breakfast I had gone to my room to grab my keys which I had forgotten while coming downstairs. It wasn't the first time Jay was in my house wanting to give me a ride to school even though I thought it was unnecessary but he always told me a day or days before he shows up. He was wearing a white shirt and blue pants, I always tease him about his fashion sense... He dress to school sometimes like it's a freaking job interview. So formal and so serious. I glanced at Ma Judy she shook her head,a signal she had no idea what was going on. Over the years whenever Jay got all grumpy over what I did he always told Ma Judy but unlike today she was clueless. "Yes just me or where you expecting someone else?" he asked maliciously. I looked at him confused. "What are you talking about?" I asked grabbing my backpack. "Where were you?" he asked. I looked at him confused. "I went to grab my keys upstairs." I said lifting up my car keys. "That would not be necessary." he commented. I frowned. "I would be dropping you off at school today." he simply said. I nodded and dropped the keys, pecked Ma Judy goodbye and left with him. The ride to school with Jay was one of the most awkward confusing ride of my life. He wouldn't even look at me! "We are here." he simply stated immediately he secured a space in the school parking space. "Can we talk?" I asked removing the seat belt Jay had insisted I wore. "There is nothing to talk about." he simply said. "Well I think there is something to talk about... You came to my house acting like a spoilt over grown needy baby, ordering me around and behaving like you are the boss of me if you have something to say why not say it instead of behaving like a..." "I would take it that you haven't been online since this morning." he calmly. I blinked surprised. I was yelling at him and all he cares about was my phone? I thought.. "Yes I had a Low Battery yesterday and I just charged it and went to bed... Just unplugged it this morning." I explained bringing out my phone from my backpack and switching it on. "I thought as much cause your behaving so clueless besides your dad called... He told me your line was switched off else he... " "Wow and suddenly the most important man in America wants to talk to me, I feel so honored." I sarcastically murmured rolling my eyes my words laced with so much bitterness. "That's not the point." he murmured angrily. "Then what is it?" I asked exasperated. "So now am going to ask you the question I asked you inside your house again clearly seeing you didn't understand back then." he replied. "Where were you yesterday from about 8am till 6pm In the evening?" he asked. I was at home was already at the tip of my mouth then I remembered the events of yesterday I was with Tyler...damn. "What happened? Cat got your tongue now?" he asked. "It's nothing like that... I was just trying..i can explain..." I stuttered hating how guilty I sounded. "Explanation huh? How about we explain this?"he said throwing a newspaper at me. It was the hello America newspaper, a national newspaper and I and Tyler had made its cover with an absurd headline "LOVERS OR WHAT?" With shaking hands I opened the page where our pictures were splashed on the pages of the newspaper, the picture was taken from yesterday obviously an undercover reporter had been in our midst. The reporter had intentionally taken pictures of when I and Tyler were either holding hands or starring at each other creating an impression we were a thing. He or she had also taken a picture of when we were running around with the children at the park both of us holding hands. My phone beeped continuously I checked it and like I feared I had like about a "Gazillion" notifications. Almost immediately my phone rang... It was Cherry. I ignored the call... Pretty much had an idea what she wanted to say. "I know this looks insane and anyone would have a misconception." I said throwing the newspaper from my body. "But it isn't what it looks like... We were just hanging out." I said desperately wanting Jay to trust me. "You were just hanging out with f*****g Tyler Louis, can you hear yourself?" he asked. "Tyler and I are friends now... We have decided to be friendly competitors."I said cringing at how stupid I sounded. It sounded so smart when Tyler said it I thought. "Friendly competitors indeed..." Cherry kept on calling. "Pick your call already." he said sounding irritated owing partly to the fact that he hates my ringing tone. "It's just Cherry." I replied. "I need you to understand that the media is blowing this out like a big deal... It isn't." I replied. "So when did you make the big decision of becoming friends with Tyler?" He asked placing much emphasis on the word "friends". "That doesn't matter. All this would blow off... The media would hunt for a bigger story and forget all about me In a week they are not important... What is important is us.. You. Do you trust me?" I asked holding his hand. He looked away removing my hand from his. "I do but I don't trust that Tyler of a boy and I thought you would be reasonable enough not to but seems I was wrong." he replied and with that he opened the door going out tossing at me his keys. I sighed. "This is so f****d up." I mumbled *************************************. "I never knew the media would blow this into proportion.... we were just hanging out!" I complained. "Can you hear yourself? An Alexander and a Louis hanging out... Of course it's a big deal and the media is bound to have a field day on that if you ask me." Cherry commented. "How is Jay taking the news? " Vanessa asked worried. "You seriously don't want to know... He is really mad at me." I replied. "Who won't be? Still can't believe that you were hanging out with Tyler." Cherry commented. "Am so disappointed Li" Vanessa replied.
