Asleif and I have already returned safely to the academy after that long quest we took. Here I am, leaning on a tree, reading the book Lady Sherilo gave me. It was about my magic and how to improve it.
Actually, I still don’t know if I can do that magic spell, Lady Sherilo wanted me to learn. I am not confident about it really. I guess, there’s no other choice but to try it first.
“Okay, I’ll give it a shot…” I closed the book and stood up. I walked forward, a bit farther from the tree where it is an open field, with green grasses that were perfectly trimmed and maintained by the school.
I stretched both my hands forward and opened my palms. I closed my eyes and concentrated, taking a deep breath and exhaled slowly. I focused all my mana towards my palms.
“Heavenly body magic: Seven-star swords!” I chanted and opened my eyes.
A huge magic circle emerged in front of my hands. Tremendous amount of light came out from it, my indication that the magic is working. A total number of seven swords materialized around me. They were made of that light, the gleamed in my palm. I couldn’t contain my happiness, as I have succeeded on it from the get go. I cancelled the cast of the spell, and the light went out from my hands. The swords which were around me seconds ago, disintegrated into tiny bits until they vanished from thin air.
“SUCCESS!” I exclaimed, and bounced around.
It was that time when I suddenly heard someone clapped behind me. I turned around and found Lady Sherilo there, clapping her hands. I was a bit embarrassed but I just smiled at her, and she just returned with her own smile as she sashayed closer to me.
“Impressive Kiera, you really learn fast… but! You still need to improve and strengthen your physical capabilities as well… You need to rethink your fundamentals in terms of arm to arm combat.” she said.
“I am already aware of that Lady Sherilo… but,” I scratched the back of head and smiled. “It’s just I cannot take them all at once, I am still a human who still get tired eventually…”
Lady Sherilo could only shake her head. Well, I guess she’s getting used to all of my dramas and craziness, since I spend time mostly with her because of my training. I hope I haven’t infected her yet with that.
I was about to speak to her again but my vision suddenly went into blur. I lost my balance and fell on my knees. It felt like my head was spinning.
“Kiera, are you okay?” Lady Sherilo came to support me from falling flat to the ground.
“Ye-yeah… I just felt dizzy suddenly…” I said, catching my breath. She let me lean on a tree near us.
“Maybe, the spell was just too much for you…” She knelt in front of me and caressed my forehead.
“No… no, I can do it milady…” I shook my head to disagree.
“But your stamina and mana levels aren’t yet enough for you to do that magic.” She replied.
I could only sigh. Yes, she’s right. My mana reserves were still weak. They weren’t anywhere near enough to do a spell on that level. When I cast magic on a consecutive manner, I’ll immediately deplete my mana. That’s one of the reasons as well, why I am still weak on arm to arm combat.
“I can train my body… I’ll master it eventually,” I smiled to the lady.
Lady Sherilo sighed as well. “I don’t know if I should be happy about you being stubborn and fighter, or be worried that it might put you into danger.”
“Oh, come on milady, I can handle this… I am strong…” I brought my hand to my chest.
“Okay… okay, if you say so…” She smiled.
“By the way milady… what brings you here?” I asked.
“I was just passing by and I saw you training here, so I decided to stop by and watch you while you train.” She sat next to me.
I looked up and squinted as the rays of the sun were leaking from the gaps of the tree branches and leaves.
“Do you think I will get any stronger than this, Lady Sherilo?” I asked.
“Of course, you will… you said you’re strong right?” she replied.
“But when do you think I can return home, milady? I really need to return somehow…”
Lady Sherilo only stared on the vast wilderness of the blue sky. The wind blew and swayed our hair. The leaves and grasses danced as the wind passes them, creating a soothing hymn together.
“Kiera… the truth is…” she whispered.
The Academy’s bell suddenly rang. The classes were about to start but I remained my gaze glued to the pretty lady beside me, waiting for her to finish her statement.
“I suppose you should go to your classes now Kiera… We’ll talk again later, after your classes are over.” she said.
“But…”
Lady Sherilo stood up and offered her hand to help me stand. “Come on, I’ll tell you later… so it’ll have a bit of thrill.”
“Huh? I guess, you’re now getting infected to my craziness, Lady Sherilo…” I could only scratch my head.
“Well, we spend a lot of time together everyday for your training, so that must be the case…” She chuckled.
“Just like I told you, Lady Sherilo…” I laughed as well. I turned around and waived my hand to her. “I’ll be going to my class now, see you later!”
She just nodded and smiled. I sped towards our building.
SHERILO POV
Do I really need to tell her now about the real reason why she’s here? But her strength is still not enough for her to accept it.
I just gazed Kiera as she sped away from me, until she vanished as she entered the school building.
“Oh Alyana, I hope you’re here so I won’t have to bear all these problems alone…” I whispered to the air.
“Sherilo…”
I froze where I was standing upon hearing that voice behind me. It was familiar to me. After all this time, how long has it been when I heard that voice again.
“So, it’s you…” I said, not looking towards the owner of the voice.
“So, you still know my voice–“ I didn’t let the owner of the voice continue and threw the most obvious question. “What are you doing here? What do you need?”
“Nothing in particular… I just want to see her…”
“She has a resemblance, right?” I asked.
“Yes…”
“But there’s something off to her… it’s like…” I paused.
“I know about that as well…”
“So, my suspicion was right… I suppose it’s your doing?” I said.
“She didn’t want me to do it but it was necessary… I didn’t really expect that there comes a time that she’ll be brought here.”
“She was living here for almost a year, but you only decided to visit her now?” I asked.
“Do you think you can call this a visit for her? I suppose you should be worried now that I’m here… You already know why, right?”
“No one can take her here.” I replied.
“I certainly hope so…”
I turned around to face the one who I was talking to. But I wasn’t able to see anything, not even a shadow of the owner of the voice. I could only clench my fist. I will never let anyone take, Kiera!
I brought my eyes towards the Academy. Kiera, was still not ready. That’s what I thought, judging from the status of her strength right now. She still couldn’t defend herself properly, what more with that huge responsibility that rested on her shoulders.
I need to find a way, how to strengthen Kiera in just a short period of time.
I headed away from the building, I guess I should head to my room for now and think of a way.
ASLEIF POV
“What? I was just away for a day Zeva, and you have fallen these weak?” I said.
I brought my hand to my hips and grinned at him. Zeva, he’s my familiar. He was a lion with a white fur with a mix of light blue. He was an odd lion, that had wings like an eagle.
“Look at your stupidity… it seems like you didn’t notice it?” Zeva grinned back at me.
I looked down to check my body where he was staring. I was surprised when I saw a tear in my clothes, near my abdomen.
Zeva burst into laughter. “Looks like you really didn’t notice it… You’re still really weak Asleif.”
I gritted my teeth and pouted. “Remember, I am your proprietor… don’t call me weak!”
“Totally still a kid…” he added, still laughing.
He then shrunk smaller, like Haku’s size when he became smaller and lost his wings. They’re this small, that would just fit in my two open palms. That’s why they’re super cute when they transformed into this state.
Familiars can transform into specific sizes they wish to. They shrunk this small, so they can hide their true power levels and form and of course so they can accompany their proprietors anywhere. Like in their rooms or anywhere they couldn’t fit in their large battle sizes. Familiars could only transform like this if they undergo a training like the wizards or if someone would teach them. They couldn’t transform into their largest forms as well if they don’t learn how to do it. Only because they’re not like our normal animals that would grow naturally. That’s their initial form, like small cute puppies.
I just sat on the floor. Well, I’m outside my house right now as I was having a spar with Zeva. He then ran towards me and jumped unto my lap.
“You suddenly fell silent?” Zeva asked.
“I haven’t seen all the pillars like me for a while, I just thought of forming a party and invite them all…” I replied.
Zeva rested his head on my palm. “Well, that’s a good idea so I could spar with their familiars… you’re right, it’s been a while since then.”
“Yeah, I remembered… Haku asked me to say hi to you…” I caressed Zeva’s chin.
“Haku? Oh… that white wolf?” he asked.
I chuckled. “Yes… we met yesterday.”
“That wolf… who only know how to brag…” Zeva replied.
I could only laugh at Zeva’s expression when he said that. He was a bit annoyed hearing Haku’s name. But of course, they’re friends. “Why? As what I have known, you’re like that as well…”
Zeva crossed his arms and looked away. “By the way, how’s that girl you call Kiera?”
Dodging the topic huh? I could only laugh at Zeva’s cute reaction.
“Well… there, same as usual. Yeah right, you still haven’t met each other…” I said.
He nodded. “Yeah… well, I can meet her when you have formed that party you were planning.”
“Yeah, that’s right…” I shot up from the floor.
I picked up Zeva who fell on the floor when I suddenly stood up. His wings popped out from his back and started floating beside me.
“What came into your mind again, Asleif?” he asked.
“Why don’t we just head there and meet Lady Sherilo and Kiera, so we can invite them as well and I could introduce you to her.” I said.
Zeva didn’t answered or anything, so that only means he agrees to my suggestion. We immediately left and headed towards the Academy. After reaching the institution we immediately headed towards the Lady Sherilo’s office. But when we arrived at her office, she wasn’t present there. We asked anyone who might know where she is, and we learned that she was staying her room.
We immediately headed towards Lady Sherilo’s room. I knew that Kiera’s class were still ongoing right now so, I’ll just set aside that goal for later.
I knocked on her room’s door. Lady Sherilo opened the door, she just stepped to the side and let us enter her room. I saw many books opened all around her table.
“A-are you busy, Lady Sherilo?” I asked.
“No, not really… so what brings you here Asleif?” she replied.
“Ye-yeah… about that… we just want to invite you to a party…” I said.
“That’s all? I mean… you went all the trouble going here just to say that?” She narrowed her eyes into slits.
“Uh… not just that, we would also want to invite Kiera as well, and introduce Zeva to her…” I pointed Zeva.
“What are these books for, Lady Sherilo?” Zeva asked, while his gaze was glued to the books.
“Well… about that, I was looking for a way, to speed up Kiera’s progress in improving her abilities.” she replied.
“I was wondering, why were you on a rush about her developments Lady Sherilo?” Zeva asked.
“I cannot help it… she had frequently asked me about her return to her home these days.” Lady Sherilo closed her books one by one and arranged them properly.
“Is that so? Couldn’t we just make a reason for her?” I asked.
“That’s not all… and that’s not the real problem here. I was worried for these past few days that one day the enemies might track her here and take her with them.” Lady Sherilo replied.
“I suppose it’s impossible for them to find her right now…” I said.
“No… that’s not impossible Asleif, now that she started to use her magic.” Zeva said.
“Zeva is right, we better be prepared for the worse, than sorry.” Lady Sherilo could only sigh. “But the good news is, I have found a way. Well, for now… I’ll just keep it as a secret for now between Kiera and me.”
“Okay, I understand Lady Sherilo… then I’ll just wait for Kiera’s classes to be over.” I said.
Lady Sherilo narrowed her eyes and gazed at me with a seemingly malicious look.
“Are the two of you dating?” Lady Sherilo asked.
