I trudged upstairs, letting the weight of the day hang heavy on my shoulders. Each step felt like a countdown, slower and slower, until I reached my room. The door clicked shut behind me, and I exhaled, letting the stillness soak into my bones. I sank onto my bed, my fingers grazing over the cool sheets as I lay back.
