"Two weeks?" I asked him after Brent told me he would be gone for two weeks. He was one of the doctors who would be sent to a place in Africa to help treat patients in need.
I am so proud of him. I am happy that he can help many patients again. But yeah, two weeks is quite long. I will miss him.
"Yes. And we will be leaving this Saturday.”
This Saturday? That's two days from now.
"Why so soon?"
"I don't know either. Dad just told us about it and I was as shocked as you are." Brent sighed, turning his head towards me. "I'm sorry, I'll be gone two weeks next to you."
"No, it's okay. I understand. It's your duty as a doctor. They need a doctor like you. But yeah, I will miss you." I firmly said.
Brent lifts his left hand to hold my right cheek. "Me too, Ish. I'll miss you. Promise
