As Wale walked home, his mind was in turmoil as he felt he came home late and Chief Williams might be upset with him even though he called him on the phone and did not sound angry. Recalling his tone of voice, he sounded more worried than angry. He hoped that his outing today would not affect his future outings.
He got to the gate of the house and rang the gate bell. After some seconds, Victor opened the gate and he walked in. Victor greeted him and he answered back as he walked into the house. He saw Chief Williams sitting in the living room and reading a newspaper. Wale felt guilty that he had to lie to go to Jane's house and he was about to lie again to cover his tracks. He wished he didn't have to but there was nothing he could do.
