Chapter 28: The Unexpected Twist

Alex's eyes widened in shock as Ramona's gaze locked onto hers. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable.

"Ramona, what's going on?" Ariana asked, her voice cautious.

Ramona's eyes never left Alex's face. "I...I remember," she whispered. "I remember who I really am."

Taylor and Ethan exchanged confused glances. "What do you mean?" Taylor asked.

Ramona took a step forward, her eyes filled with a mix of emotions. "I'm not who you think I am," she said, her voice shaking. "I'm not the enemy."

Alex's mind reeled as she tried to process Ramona's words. Could it be true? Was Ramona really not the villain they thought she was?

Ariana's expression turned thoughtful. "Go on," she said.

Ramona took a deep breath. "I was once a student here, just like you. But I was consumed by the darkness...and I lost myself."

The room was silent, with all eyes on Ramona. Alex could see the internal struggle on her face, the battle between light and darkness.

"What happened?" Alex asked finally, her voice soft.

Ramona swallowed hard. "I was consumed by the darkness. It turned me into a shadow of my former self. But...I remember who I really was."

Taylor and Ethan exchanged disbelieving glances. "Why did you attack us?" Taylor asked.

Ramona shook her head. "It wasn't me. It was the darkness. It controlled me."

Ariana nodded slowly. "I understand. Darkness can be a powerful force."

Suddenly, the light in the room began to flicker. A dark figure materialized in the entrance.

"What...what is that?" Ethan asked, his voice trembling.

The dark figure stepped closer, its presence enveloping the room in a palpable darkness.

"It's the true enemy," Ramona whispered. "The one who controlled me."
