The next morning after me and Abby wake up to the smell of breakfast Cooking. We quickly get dressed and head down stairs and find Aunt Jenna in the kitchen. She has a spread of waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, and muffins. “Damn Aunt Jenna are we feeding an army!” I ask her as I fix me a waffle with slices of strawberries and whipped cream. “No I just wanted to give you girls some options. Plus we all know you can put away some breakfast” she says laughing while fixing her own plate. “Man I wish I lived here.” Abbi says while fixing her own plate. “Psh girl you know you already more or less do! Speaking of which I made up the room I was going to give to Marie if you want it. Just for while your here so you can also have your own space.” Aunt Jenna tells her. “You didn’t have to do all that! I don’t mind staying in Marie’s room with her.” “I know you don’t mind now but once the babies come you may.” We quickly eat breakfast in a comfortable silence. “That was so good Aunt Jenna! I’m stuffed!” I say rubbing my big belly. My babies started moving around right after I started eating and have yet to settle. “No problem! So have you thought about a baby shower anymore? Because I was thinking and we could rent a restaurant to have it at. This way no one will be at the house. What do you think?” Aunt Jenna asks. “I hadn’t thought about it but I guess that will be fine.” “Have you picked a theme yet for the babies stuff?” Abbi asks. “I was thinking blue and pink elephants.” “That would be so cute! We can do elephant decorations, and a cake with elephants on it for the baby shower! I love it! Also I got another crib coming this week that matches the first one but it doesn’t have a changing station just a dresser.” Aunt Jenna says excitedly. I can’t tell who is more excited for these babies to get here. “Sounds good Aunt Jenna. I really appreciate everything.” I say looking at her smiling. I really don’t know what I would have done without her. “No problem sweetie. I’ll get the invitations made up and sent out this week for the baby shower. We will plan it for May. Sound good?” “Sounds perfect Aunt Jenna.” I say while standing to help clean up the left overs and washing the dishes. There are plenty of breakfast left overs for dinner tonight. That makes me very happy. This pregnancy has me craving breakfast all the time! The rest of the day we spend being lazy. We binge watch Pretty Little Liars and just relax. Aunt Jenna makes some frozen pizza for lunch. Which was yummy! And for dinner she orders Chinese for her and Abbi. But I really wanted more waffles with strawberries and chocolate chips. What can I say? The babies made me eat them! Abbi heads home that night to get ready for school on Monday. I love having her here. She keeps my spirits up and makes us all laugh so much. “I got to go into the store in the morning. Do you wanna join me?” “Sure thing! What time are we leaving?” “I want to head out around seven. I wanna grab some coffee and maybe some donuts and muffins. Sound good?” “Ummm have you met me?! I am always down for coffee and donuts!” I say standing and doing a happy dance. I have cut back on caffeine a little. My doctor says a couple cups a day isn’t going to hurt my babies. “Alright well I will see you in the morning.” Aunt Jenna as she heads to her room after locking up. “Alright. Goodnight Aunt Jenna.” “Night sweetie. Get some rest.” I head up to my room and take a bubble bath to help my aching muscles. Who knew being pregnant could make someone’s body ache. After I get out I lotion my body I throw a t-shirt night gown on and hop in my bed. I play on my phone for a few minutes just trying to unwind when my phone dings. Unknown-you really should have gotten rid of the brat before. Me-who is this? Unknown-you will find out soon enough. I decide to call my phone company in the morning to get my number changed. After that I try to settle in for the night. It takes me a while to relax enough to go to sleep. But when I do sleep I dream of a room decorated for my babies and their sleeping bodies in the arms of a man I can’t place. His face is even shadowed except for his grey eyes. The next morning my alarm wakes me up at six forty-five. I quickly get dressed before heading to the kitchen to get a banana. “Morning sweetie did you sleep okay?” Aunt Jenna asks. “Actually no.” I explain to her about the texts and show her them. She tells me to take a screen shot and send them to her phone. Then she says that we are going to get me a phone and hook it up to her plan for the time being. I write all my contacts down on a piece of paper and put the phone back to factory mode. Aunt Jenna takes it from me and throws it into the garbage disposal and we leave the house. After making a stop at Dunkin’ Donuts we head to the store. I sip my coffee in my office while going through all the papers on my desk and organizing receipts. It doesn’t take me long to get everything where it needs to be. I turn my computer on and start logging everything into the spread sheets. “Hey sweetie wanna take a break and get a phone?” “Sure thing.” I say and quickly close everything down after saving my work. We quickly head to Verizon where my aunt has her phone plan at. Aunt Jenna tells me to pick whichever phone I want. I don’t care what phone I get I just want as much storage space as I can get. After asking about the phones and the storage spaces that they come with I decide to get an iPhone X. It has one hundred and twenty eight gigs of storage. After we set it up in the store on my aunts plan we head to the diner down the street for lunch. After we eat our burgers we get milkshakes to go and head back to the store. The rest of the afternoon goes by quickly. My aunt works the front desk for a while and I work on the books then we switch about half way though. My aunts store is rather popular in the area. She sells books and souvenirs of many different varieties. I love working at the store. After we close the store down and lock up we head home for some sandwiches for dinner. Today was a good day. The store wasn’t packed but we still made a bunch of sales. I head to my room and text most the numbers I wrote in my notebook including my parents. I decide to block my number and call Adams mother. “Hello?” “Hey Mrs.Turnball I am sorry for calling so late.” “That’s okay dear is everything okay? Why are you calling me on a blocked number?” “Well I got a mean text last night from an unknown number. So I got a new phone today. When I text you from my new number can you save it under someone else name?” “What kind of texts sweetie? Are you okay?” “Just someone saying I should have gotten rid of my baby before. Whoever it isn’t doesn’t know that I’m having twins. But I am fine I promise.” “Okay dear I will put your number down under my name.” “Thank you Mrs.Turnball. I really appreciate it.” “No problem sweetie. And you can call me Lexi. After all your having my grandchildren. No need to keep it so formal.” “Okay Lexi. Has Yazmin been hanging around with Adam lately?” “I am not sure honestly. Why do you think she may have been the one to text you?” “I am not sure. I wouldn’t put it past her though.” “Okay well Try to get some rest. It’s late.” “You too. Goodnight Lexi.” I hang up the phone before i send her a text so she can save my number. Then I call Adam. “Yo?” “Adam it’s me.” “Marie I tried calling you earlier but your phone kept going to voicemail.” “Adam has Yazmin had any time at all with your phone?” “No why” “Because someone texted me last night telling me I should have gotten rid of the baby.” “Well Yazmin hasn’t even been around the past week or so. Something about she has too much going on.” “Well I will text you my new number but please save it under a different name.” “Fine. So how are things?” “They are fine. The babies are fine. They have me craving waffles a lot and pick the worst times to move around. I think they are running out of room.” I say while running my hands over my belly. “Well it’s good they are growing.” “Yup. Well I am going to bed. I’ll text you. Goodnight” After I hang up I text him so he can also save my number. Then I plug my phone into the charger on the night stand. It doesn’t take long for exhaustion to pull me under into a dreamless sleep. The rest of the week goes by rather quick. I spend the day at school and then at night I either go home or to the store. Abbi tends to spend most the time after school with me. If I’m going to the store Abbi goes too. If I go home Abbi comes home with me. It’s nice fire the most part. Lexi sent me a list of names and addresses for the baby shower. The invitations came in too so we got those all filled out and sent through the mail. My aunt booked a small diner for the afternoon that’s not too far from the house. She even placed an order for a local bakery for the cake. She is simply amazing! I haven’t had any texts or calls from unknown numbers thankfully. The twins seem to be growing well too. I had another doctors appointment coming up next week. This weekend we were going to be shopping for baby shower decorations and trying to find the crib bedding for the babies. The other crib came in yesterday. It is so weird thinking I’m going to have two babies to take care of soon. “Marie you ready to head out?” Aunt Jenna asks through my door. “Yeah can you help me? I can’t tie my shoes!” I yell back at her. Aunt Jenna laughs as she steps into my room and sees me hunched over trying to tie my sneakers. After she ties them for me we head to the mall. We stop by Macy’s and actually find the most adorable elephant crib bedding with matching crib mobiles. We get one in pink and one in blue. They come with a set of sheets, crib bumpers, a comforter, a soft blanket, a soft elephant plush, a crib skirt, and the mobile. Next store we head to is Target. We find a few cute things for the shower. The only thing we are really missing is the center pieces. So we try AC Moore next and hit the jackpot! After buying a bunch of items from there we finally head home. I hate how tired I get. Doing any little thing anymore takes so much of my energy. I am so ready to have my body back to myself. The next few weeks fly by so quickly. Before I know it my due date is two months away. It is officially graduation and baby shower month. I look like I am carrying a super undated balloon under my shirt. The babies are growing as they should be. I have been working from home more often since my feet and ankles keep swelling due to being on my feet a lot. Abbi has more or less moved into her room at my aunts. She goes home every other weekend. She says her parents aren’t home often so she gets lonely. “Hey chika you about ready?” Abbi says through my door. “Yeah just slipping my flip flops on!” I holler back through the door. I haven’t spoken to Adam since I sent him my new number. I also haven’t had anymore mysterious numbers messaging me. Thankfully. My mom is coming up next week to stay until graduation and the baby shower. We graduate on a Thursday and the shower is that Saturday. I grab my purse and close my door behind me to meet Abbi downstairs. “Please be careful Marie. You have been tiring yourself out more then usual. Make sure to rest after a bit of walking and stay hydrated. It is very hot out!” Aunt Jenna says to us as we walk towards the door. “I’ll be okay Aunt Jenna. And I will stay hydrated. I love you and I will see you later.” “Love you too baby have fun!” After we find Abbi her dress at Sears we head over to Motherhood Maternity. I wanted something cute and comfy. I find a cream colored empire waist with a big bow under my bust area. I absolutely love it. It’s made of that soft but thin material. After we find our dresses we head to this great burger joint. We grab burgers for ourselves and get one to take back to Aunt Jenna. These are simply the best burgers ever. They are juicy and full of flavor! They are also as big as the damn plates they serve them on! We get them all to go and head on home. After we all eat in the kitchen and clean up we decide to play some board games. We play some Monopoly, Uno, and Chutes and Ladders. We show Aunt Jenna our dresses which she says she loves. I must say I love my family. I video chat my mom regularly. She is excited about the babies coming. So far my dad hasn’t been able to get transferred or find another job. But I told mom I would be okay. The next week flies by. It’s now the week of graduation and the baby shower. Lexi keeps asking if Adam can come to the shower. At first I didn’t really want him there. He keeps saying he doesn’t want to be involved. I decide I need to call him to see where his head is. “What’s up?” He answers. “Nothing your mom just texted me. Have you told her you wanted to be at the baby shower or anything?” “No. Why is she saying something?” “No she keeps asking if you can come. I know you said you don’t want to be involved so I was just checking for miscommunication.” “No I keep telling her I don’t want no part of the kids lives. Matter of fact my lawyer already drew papers up to sign my rights away. She keeps trying to change my mind but I don’t want to be a father Marie. I told you that when you told me you were pregnant.” He says sounding furious. “Well I don’t have anything to say to that. I guess I’ll let you know when they are born.” I hang up the phone before I toss it on the night stand. I know Lexi means well but I wish she wouldn’t push her son so much. I have no issues raising my kids on my own. I have already decided that the kids will have my last name. I don’t need Adam involved. I got this!
