CHAPTER EIGHT
Lilith and Caleb enter the Void Chamber.
Screams ricochet around the room.
Lilith squeals, and it bounces through the chamber, piercing everyone’s ears. She moves from captive to captive. Reaching above her, she grasps the black grimy feet of a man sitting in a tall and narrow cage. Standing on her tiptoes, she swings the man’s dingy dangling legs, causing his gage to twist.
The man hollers out. Grabbing at the wide flat bars of his cage, he rattles them, screaming down at her. His mangy greasy wiry hair shakes about his head. Spit flies from his lips, stringing through his scraggly beard.
Lilith giggles, letting him go and watching him s swing around.
The man growls, watching her from his perch as he sways, and he barks at her, eyes glowing green. Reaching behind him,
