CHAPTER NINE Day 1 of classes: The next morning, a forceful tapping comes from the window. Sarah wakes first. Sitting up, she rubs her eyes and searches the room through a haze for the noise. Making herself get out of the bed, she continues her hazy search, finding a blue jay pecking the window. She opens a small section of the faux glass. The blue jay hops along the sill, opening its beak, and what comes out is loud, high pitched, and echoing, forcing her to cover her ears. "Morning alarm ordered by Rayden. Six o'clock every morning.
