It's my last morning today in Guyana and with my Uncle and Auntie, she came over the night before she wanted to see me off home. We gather in the kitchen where both my uncle and auntie are cooking up some delicious breakfast, I found out that I am on the same flight as Cas and he insisted that we share a cab back to the airport from my Uncles. I didn't mind I spent the rest of my time catching up with my family and Cas, my Uncle and Auntie are both very fond of him which is good, I just hope it goes the same way with my parent's too. The smell of bacon hits my nose and my mouth instantly waters, licking my lips I try to grab a piece but my uncle swats me away just how my mom does.
They plate up everything and I grab my share and take a seat, my Uncle and Auntie both looking at me with so much love as we dig in, then there's a knock on the wood as Cas comes sweeping through and takes a seat with us, my auntie quickly gets up and grabs Cas a plate as he helps himself to some breakfast too.
"So whens your flight Zara and Cas?"
"It's at 11am, gotta be there shortly" I say,
"Oh, dear I'll miss you so much! You will stay in touch won't you? And tell that brother of ours not to hide you anymore!"
"Of course I will! And I'll definitely tell him aswell" I laugh, sometimes I wish I had siblings too share moments with but I'm happy as an only child as lonely as it is.
"Hey, our cabs outside" Cas whispered to me, I get up and put our plates in the sink and fill the bowl up, I give my Uncle Felix a big hug and thank him for letting me stay, and do the same with my Auntie Julietta, as we walk down the stairs to the road we see the cab waiting for us, embracing them once more and having tears threatening to come out I hold myself together, I put my hand in Cas' and head towards the cab.
The cab ride was long but having Cas there made the time fly by, I slowly forgot that I still had the amulet, the one thing I came here for as well as meeting my long lost family.
Going to the check in desk with Cas seemed abit weird to me as I came over here on my own and in a short amount of time I've met the most amazing person ever, we hand over our passports and tickets and Cas tells the check in lady something but I don't hear what he's saying, as there's so much noise around. He grabs my hand as we go through to the big duty free area looking around at all the perfumes, then I spot the big chocolate bars and my eyes go wide, I see Cas look at me then at what I'm looking at and he just laughs and pulls down the biggest bar of chocolate down and walks over to the cash register and pays for it and hands the bag over to me.
"Thank you, but you know I could've bought it myself?"
"Yeah I know that but I wanted to make you smile again"
"Oh yeah? But you always make me smile are you saying there's a point I won't smile?" I said pouting,
"No no no, keep smiling, here look chocolate!" Lifting up the bag again, I just push him slightly and laugh.
We head over to the boarding gates and get on the plane and I just let Cas lead the way, I follow him all the way to first class,
"Erm Cas I don't think our seats are here?"
"Of course they are, I upgraded us" he says with that smile again,
"Okay then" I said shyly. We took our seats, and belted ourselves in, we watched the cabin crew do the usual safety talks and then we took off, Cas holding my hand as we took off and then as we evened out to the altitude. I slowly sink into the soft cushion of the seat, this is definitely better than economy, I rest my head on Cas' shoulder and closed my eyes listening to him tapping away on his laptop and nod off to sleep I knew this was going to be a long flight.
I was awoken by Cas' voice "Wakey Wakey sleepy head, we're almost home, the plane is about to land" I nod and slowly sit up and find my hand in his again as we slowly descend down to the air strip, I joined in all the clapping for the captain as much as it felt weird but hey ho. We get up grab our hand luggage, Cas wraps his hand around my waist and guides us to the luggage area to pick up our bags. I pull out my phone and turn it on and see no texts, I quickly master up a text to my dad,
Z - Hey dad just landed, will find my own way home, love you and see you soon!
D - Hey darling! Okay then that's fine with us darling we will look forward to you telling us all about your trip! Love you too and see you soon!
"Hey Zara do you have a ride home?"
"No I was just going to take a cab"
"Oh no your not, your riding with me, I'll make sure you get home safe"
"Thanks"
We head out to the car lot, weaving through the cars as Cas gets out his keys and presses a button and soon his car illuminates the floor I notice the white SUV similar to my dad's but in white as we place our bags in the trunk of the car I head towards the passenger side not before Cas is behind the door opening it up for me and giving me a hand to get in, this is definitely higher than my dad's car as Cas runs round the the driver's side he starts the car not before it splutters a little bit probably from being sat for so long, I tap my address in his GPS and we head off.
I place my head against the coldness of the window as I watch the lights of the city fade away then I'm sat here thinking this must be too good to be true, the way I'm so comfortable with who was once a stranger on the plane to someone who has shown me alot of affection more than I ever imagined. Did I ever think I could be with someone like him? He owns his own business? He runs in a much different circle than I do? I must be dreaming, then I look back at how we met, how he comforted me on the plane and I helped him relax about this mysterious meeting which now just so happens to be with my Uncle, how close we've became in Guyana, are we going to be the same over here? That date he took me on, I was lost for words no one had ever planned anything for me unless it was my parents or friends for parties nothing of this caliber. I could say I'm falling for him hard my heart is saying yes go for it but my head is saying that there's something more here but I'm not quite sure what's going on. I was never one to listen to my head so I'm going with my heart instead. I look out the window and notice the familiar surroundings and I know I'm home.
